Watching people fumble over how to pronounce my surname is both frustrating and amusing. Not to mention, spelling it out to people on the phone is a nightmare. They always expect it to be longer and add extra letters. Their brains short circuit when I explain: "It's spelled H-e. Like the pronoun."

Something I think about often is how inaccessible publishing is for low-income individuals (unless they are the rare few who get a tradpub contract). As someone who is low-income myself, it's daunting to stare at all the expenses. ISBNs, the cost of editing, book cover, etc. 1/
