Super happy to have this new tool in hand to read subs & client work. I 💙 kindle on my phone but with calls, emails & socials it’s become too distracting! So thankful to my sweet artistic daughter for caring & crafting an aesthetic case for me that fits me perfectly & sets the tone. Gonna go read!

Agents with clients on sub to editors are like kids on a road trip with their parents: “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?” 😆🚘

Finally able to share the cover of the next Blight Harbor book, PENNIES. Illustrator Alfredo Cáceres & designer Karyn Lee have created something beautiful, special, & truly unique. PENNIES is set 100 years before THE CLACKITY but I promise there are some familiar characters. PENNIES is out 9/23/25

Nice. No one likes laundry at our house. Only clean clothes.

I'm honored to work for the agency she founded, Spencerhill Associates, and for her friend of many years, Nalini Akolekar, who will carry on Karen's tradition of excellence. t.co/od6FneS2ZV

It's remarkable to think a woman I knew was such an influential figure in publishing. To think, if you're a female editor or agent today, women like Karen came before us and made a way. She was a powerhouse, quintessentially New York in her directness, but had the biggest heart.

Sad to share but blessed to celebrate the remarkable life of our founder, Karen Solem, who passed this Sunday. She helped build the romance genre to powerhouse status, publishing Nora Roberts first 100 books, & was also a trailblazer who paved the way for women in publishing.

I particularly love the darkly delicious nested narratives in @lorasenf.bsky.social’s The Losting Fountain. But out of those, Noemi’s haunts me. I love it but it haunts me. But bad things happen when one world bleeds into another.

This is the book I signed Lora for. She casually mentioned she had this other book called The Clackity, which ended up being her debut and a book some of you may know, but this is where her story started. I’m so proud to see it out in the world today. Congrats Lora.

For reference, I am normally that person who is up until 4 am Christmas Eve because they waited to the very last second to wrap. (I mean this is me EVERY year.). BUT NOT THIS YEAR BABY!

Good morning from someone who has actually wrapped the majority of their Christmas presents, but was so tired last night that they took the trashcan down to the curb and then immediately turned around and took the trashcan back to the house, and then back to the curb lol. 🎄 🥱

So if you are an adult who loves to read, who’s seen its affect on your happiness & personal life, & you have a kid in your life, don’t just give a book. Give the gift of reading, of adventure between pages, of a robust vocabulary, of confidence, of escape. Sit down & engage!

Seeing the effects of COVID on young readers makes me so sad! Kids are behind in literacy, and recovery efforts are critical to bridge the gap! Literacy impacts everything: our economy, intelligence, income, health, and social engagement. We can’t let them fall further behind!
