Also as someone who has experience programming mods please stop letting people get away with using Al to """assist""" with code. Coding is an art form like any other and generated code is literally stolen without consent.

(also I originally blocked Telemetry > Opt Out as well, but I noticed that also blocked lots of mods that just have harmless anonymous usage stats. Obviously they should do better and be opt-in but honestly Al is the bigger fight here and much more important unfortunately)

Screen-grab of the "Advanced Exclusions" on the filters sidebar on Modrinth's search page. Under the AI-generated content category, AI Code, AI Assets, and AI Text are blocked. Outside of any categories, Generative AI functionality is also blocked. Finally, under the Telemetry category, "Always Active" is blocked.

I was asked to give my thoughts on generative AI usage in games - here they are!

From the article:
"I think that until the bubble bursts, AI will be used by quite a few game companies, and perhaps even beyond the bubble," says Brandon Sheffield of Necrosoft Games, which released the RPG Demonschool last year. "Look, I am not a fool – I understand that AI has some uses. Primary among those being the devaluing of work, the cheapening of labour, the laying off of creatives, and the generation of busywork for humans to fix whatever AI generates."

"It's also useful for burning through water, raising the prices of RAM and chipsets globally, and poisoning anyone near the data centres that run them. So there are a lot of use cases for AI. From spurring on the death of the creative endeavour to dissolving our economy, AI is absolutely gangbusters at what it does. We don't use it in our studio though."

Funnily enough, Chromium Dev Tools already *has* amazing tools for monitoring & improving website performance. This unnecessary Al is just going to be a far worse version of those tools lol As usual they're shoving Al everywhere it doesn't fit

It's also worth noting that there *are* alternatives for some of these features *on* Bluesky: @deck.blue for scheduling posts and lots of other features!! (it also had a bookmark feature for a long time now) @poll.blue for polls!!

Even better you use a crafter to automate crafting anvils from your iron farm, never needing to craft an anvil ever again (in that particular world obv you'd still craft anvils in early game when you don't have an iron farm yet)

Buuut, letting us repair them with iron blocks (just like iron golems with iron ingots!) would let us use redstone to repair chipped/damaged anvils. I'd use this pretty much anywhere I use anvils and it'd be amazing

Seriously though anvils breaking is so annoying. I have iron farms and more iron than I could ever use, so putting a new anvil is easy, but there's no way to automate this process! Besides a massive stack of anvils (which isn't infinite obv) which gets damaged every time you break the bottom one

Not that maps or compasses to biomes is a good solution, obviously that takes away from the exploration and surprise aspect. I'm sure Mojang could come up with a good solution but definitely not for a drop, that would require much more development time than a drop gets.

There's so many biomes now that even common biomes can be annoyingly far/rare. I have a world where the *nearest* DESERT is 6000 blocks away!! A desert!! I've had the closest mangrove swamp or warm ocean be 20k+ blocks from spawn!

Back to 1.21.6 / the summer drop - The bit of footage we get to see + the devs playing the drop, just remember it'll likely be very early in development, like the Pale Garden was when it was shown off. Although I do wish more changed before release.
