You can help save Eslam's son Mohammed's life by sharing & donating. He has a gangrene infection from an insect bite & needs urgent treatment. Healthcare is scarce & exorbitant under Israel's genocidal siege, & Palestinians are living among disease & vermin in the devastation Israel has caused:

Wanna try before you buy? Check out The Scarlet Ball here, and if you dig it, pre-order it before release on OCT 6! Reactor not only gave us a fun selection to read, but also an audiobook sample as well, which, incredible because the audiobook is read by the incredible @natalienaudus.bsky.social!

Two dark, dark orange (so dark it’s nearly black) glass pumpkin beads, with a little green leafy flourish atop each

Since last year, technically! I just haven’t been to the studio in months because it’s all the way in Brooklyn, and I was dying of an acute case of writing a novel

After so so many failed attempts…I’m so happy with how this lampwork blooming bead turned out. Still need to work on getting all the petals rounded at the tops, but this is the first one I would unreservedly call a success.

If you're a Dem who thinks you'll gain something by going anti-trans, look at Gallup's "most important problem" and Fox News' "most important issue" polling and see where trans issues rank. Whoever told you going anti-trans is a savvy or necessary move spends too much time on X and should be fired.

Gallup polling. "LGBTQ rights" moves between 0 and 1%.

Fox news polling. Wokeness/transgender issues at 0%.

Ed was in a fucked up position. He knew it. His typical apolitical stance was being challenged in a way it never had been before. He told me that the words
"Free Palestine" and the image of the Palestinian flag were hurtful to a lot of people he spoke with. I told him that if those words were more offensive than tens of thousands of Palestinian children being killed by Israel, then there was a fundamental disconnect between where those people stood and where I stood. But he couldn't get past his public facing, "I don't take sides."

It was one of the cutest and most ridiculous things we’ve ever seen, and we literally could not stop cackling.

1571

Nibedita Sen @hernibsen.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

We could SEE his tiny tiny mind glitching in real time. Window goes to Outside. Other side of window is Outside. How is Mother outside window???? He just couldn’t COMPUTE.

3691

Nibedita Sen @hernibsen.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

I couldn’t get him to do it again on video (typical), but he immediately jumped off the window and came around into the living room to stare at me, then went back to the window in the office and looked through it at me again. He did this multiple times. Meeping with concern all the while.

1772

Nibedita Sen @hernibsen.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

I don’t know how I’ve never done this before in the six years we’ve lived here, but today I went up to the window in the living room and looked through it at the cat where he sat at the window in the office. And you guys. He was SHOOKETH.

A slightly hazy picture taken through two layers of window glass of a cat sitting on a windowsill, looking back at the photographer. His eyes are huge with shock and disbelief.

Same as the previous picture, but zoomed in on the cat’s enormous round eyes.

Nibedita Sen @hernibsen.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

So today @ninocipri.bsky.social and I absolutely blew our cat’s tiny mind. He likes to sit in this window in our home office. Which, as you can see, is literally around the corner from another window in the living room

On the left: a gray cat sitting in a window, next to a desk, with a glimpse of brick wall outside. On the right, an open doorway into a cozy living room, showing a sliver of a second window set at a 90 degree angle to the first.

But I'm hesitant to take on such a meaningful project because I'm still a very newbie lampwork artist. My beads still come out more lumpy than not, and I'm still struggling to crisply separate colors and designs. So I don't know if I'd want to risk working with such precious materials just yet?

110

Nibedita Sen @hernibsen.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Hm! I've never done that, but a cursory bit of research suggests including the ashes themselves would be pretty technically simple (it's much the same as incorporating crushed glass frit or mica powder, both of which I already do).
