My statement on the murder of Alex Pretti, who’s life was taken by ICE in Minneapolis yesterday. This state violence will continue as long as our representatives refuse to do what is necessary and abolish ICE.

Even though it was cold, it was a great day to hit the streets. Great turnout at the #iceoutforgood protest. Proud to be a Lexingtonian today! #lexingtonky Demand justice for #reneegood. Demand local mask bans, and demand that ICE be held accountable!

Join me downtown at the courthouse tomorrow at 1:00PM to protest and show #ICE that we don't want them here! #lexingtonky #ICEOutForGood

My statement on the recent death of Renee Good, the shooting of Yorlenys Zambrano-Contreras and Luis Moncada, and the invasion of American cities by ICE. If it can happen in Minneapolis and Portland, it can happen here in Lexington. #ReneeGood #Resist #ICE

Masked outsiders are invading and terrorizing our communities. In Minneapolis, an ICE agent killed Renee Good, a legal observer. Another ICE agent in Seattle shot Yorlenys Zambrano-Contreras and Luis Moncada, then fled the scene without rendering medical aid. ICE agents are abducting and jailing both legal residents and US citizens alike without due cause and without warrant. Over the past few days, they have escalated to wanton violence to suppress dissent.

Make no mistake -- this is a purposeful move on the Trump administration's part. If ICE agents wear masks and cannot be identified, they cannot be held to account. It has become clear that ICE is engaged in a terror campaign across this nation. The goal is to make us afraid. The DHS under Trump wants ICE to be able to invade our communities with impunity.

If elected, I would support a city ordinance to ban the use of masks and require visible identification for all DHS employees operating in an official capacity within Fayette County. If you want to take action now, reach out to the council person for your district as well as the At Large members. You can find their information here: https://www.lexingtonky.gov/government/office-urban-county-council/councilmembers

My thoughts are with the friends and family of Renee Good. She was going home after dropping off her child at school. She lost her life documenting the ongoing abuses of ICE agents in Minneapolis. I hope her courage inspires us all to resist injustice and occupation in whatever way we each can. Rest in power ✊

The people of this city deserve better. Our City Council needs more members representing the interests of working people. I am one of you, and I want to build a more affordable Lexington together. But I can’t do this alone: Follow us, get involved, and donate now at herbert4lex.com

My name is Herbert Lynn, and I'm running for Lexington-Fayette City Councilman at Large. I am a Democratic Socialist, an HVAC dispatcher, and a local organizer. Lexington is an amazing city, but for working people, life is less affordable than ever. herbert4lex.com
