The Golden Age of Airbenders. I painted these images for the flashback scene in Avatar Aang, showing Sonam and Tagah in their heyday.

I made these paintings of Tagah and Sonam for the flashback sequences in the Avatar Aang movie, which I was so lucky to help guide the style direction of.

My painting of Sonam’s temple for Avatar Aang. Much of the work I did on this film was developing the style for the ancient flashback sequences! #avataraang

Avatar Aang is out! Go watch! These are some sketches and studies I did while on it as I was trying to get the hang of the style. A lot of it referencing Kihyun Ryu's work.

The layoffs at Marvel have me pissed. Wes is one of the best in the industry and has been deeply influential on concept art as a profession. He is not only a veteran of the MCU and Transformers films but also is the designer of the Iconic NCR Ranger design from Fallout New Vegas.

Here’s just ONE of the artists Marvel Studios let go today: Wesley Burt, a brilliant veteran, one of the best in the industry. He made the viral Fantastic Four Valentine’s day card! He was also pivotal for the look of many films and shows like for example Loki, Black Panther, Avengers and so on!

It’s likely the artist behind that ECCC table paid at least $450 for the table $500-700 for lodging $150 (+) for food/drink $300+ for merch. The financial risk is real! Be nice to the creators behind the table and even if you don’t got the $$ to spare, a kind word goes a long way.

Fun note on this article, this company uses comfyUI, which boasts a collection of some of the most unethical and exploitative GenAi models. This whole deal is Netflix normalizing the exploitation of the creative workers—whose works GenAi companies stole to train their models— they hope to replace.

A twitter post from ComyUI company:
We're honored to see how Interpositive is using ComfyUl to help filmmakers stay focused on what matters most — the creative work.
Founded by Ben Affleck and built by filmmakers, for filmmakers, InterPositive has been on a mission to develop Al-powered tools that protect and expand creative choice. Their technology is purpose-built to match the language cinematographers and directors already speak, keeping creative decisions firmly in the hands of artists.
Today, that mission just got a massive boost.
Congratulations to the entire InterPositive team on joining @netflix .
It's a powerful reminder that the best creative technology doesn't replace human judgment —
it amplifies it.

I wish companies would re visit their older games that had key art like this and just use it to be the art style of a remake or fun side game. We got the tech to pull that off in 3d now.

Comic-con deciding to allow GenAi imagery in the art show —giving valuable space to GenAi users to show slop right NEXT to actual artists who worked their asses off to be there— is a disgrace! A tone deaf decision that rewards and normalizes exploitative GenAi against artists in their own spaces!
