A reader emailed to say they’d prefer I didn’t talk about politics and focused on my books and writing. Here’s the thing: I’d prefer that too. I don’t *want* to be in a position where I feel compelled on a daily basis to defend basic rights and institutions that are under assault. Your voice matters

I don’t know about you but my Muse usually visits when I’ve been writing for 30-40 minutes. If I waited for her to tap me on the shoulder before starting work, I’d never get anything at done. Don’t wait for your Muse. Chances are she’s at your desk wondering where the heck you are.
