The reason medical costs are so high is because there is no regulations in place to control them. There's no such thing as a market rate. Rich folks only cry about the deficit when you talk about them paying their fair share. They give less than a damn about the deficit.

I love how rich folks try to tell us how the healthcare system should work. They think we all have cash lying around to walk into a hospital and pay for a procedure. They have no ideas that a dr charges $300 for one office visit. More if you need lab work. Then you pay for follow-ups.
