YouTube has reached a new low where almost every news piece or information segment are now narrated by AI voiceovers. And it is terrible! It's so frustrating wanting to learn something when the AI voiceover doesn't know a period, comma, tonality and intonation.

I read something the other day…there are 8 billion people on the planet. If Elon Musk gave all 8 billion people $1 billion, he would still have &420 billion.

I have found that people who are desperate for help, understand that intentional work is required. I find a lot of people who unfortunately feel too comfortable in their own misery. Unpopular observation.

Antidepressants can improve mental health but may have long-term side effects like emotional blunting, weight gain, sleep disruptions, and sexual dysfunction. Is the mental health field failing us? I think so. And so does Chris Palmer, psychiatrist out of Harvard Uni. #MentalHealth #Antidepressants

Long-term benzodiazepine (anti anxiety meds) use can lead to serious side effects like memory issues, dependence, depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and increased overdose risk. #HealthTips #MentalHealth

The STAR*D trial highlighted a critical conclusion: despite comprehensive, stepwise treatment approaches, 33% of patients still suffered from major depressive disorder even after progressing through all four levels of treatment. This outcome underscored the limitations of current treatment options.

Anonymity in AA and NA fosters relapse by isolating recovery within "secret" meetings, disconnected from those actively struggling. True sobriety demands accountability and a fellowship beyond the rooms, built by openly sharing our truths in the real world.

I don’t have ADHD, but when I’m so tired at night that I can barely keep my eyes open, the moment my head hits the pillow, my brain goes “Fuck you dude…party time. We’re inviting every thought that’s ever crossed your mind. And mix it with some shame and guilt. Cocktail time”.

Over prescribed to those who don’t need it, and under diagnosed for those who do. The mental health profession hasn’t coloured itself in a good light for way too long now. Which is why I backed my own research and “testing” to cure my side effects of pills and get my mental disorders in remission

Even at 19 years of sobriety, Sundays still remain one of my worst days. I don’t have triggers, nor do I crave alcohol, but it has always felt like a day of loneliness. Same with Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. I wonder how many can relate

5 signs you might have depression: 1. You seem incapable of getting out of bed each morning; 2. Your hobbies don’t give you a feeling of enjoyment anymore; 3. You isolate and ignore your phone or people; 4. You seek quick fixes like porn or doom scrolling social media; 5. You overthink the future;

Five signs you might be an alcoholic: 1. When you’re hungover the next day, your first thought is to have another drink to feel better; 2. You keep on drinking after having a meal; 3. You drink alone; 4. You wonder if you might have a problem; 5. When anxious, you know a drink will alleviate it;

Beautifully said. Emotions, highs and lows are absolutely essential to your physiological health. If you feel like grieving, it’s your body telling you it needs to. Antidepressants, unfortunately, kills that emotional ability and you will pay the price over time.

It took me 25 years of suffering from severe suicidal ideations and anxiety, to finally conduct my own insanely in depth 10 year research stint to finally compile a set of guidelines, where I could get off my meds, keep my depression in remission, keep my sobriety and live a healthy, balanced life.

It drives me up the wall to see people struggle, even when their conditions are in remission, because the treatment “adequately” subdue the symptoms, but the side effects are a worse trade off for most. Is science really evolving around these issues are we seeing something sinister at play?

Henré Rossouw @henrerossouw.bsky.social · 11/12/2024
It just goes to show how deeply flawed the mental health field is, how potentially big Pharma has a grip on mental health practitioners, and just how deep a patient’s tolerance of suffering could go to decide to just opt out and choose assisted suicide as an option.
000
Henré Rossouw @henrerossouw.bsky.social · 11/12/2024
It’s even more absurd that it seems a law in Canada will be passed where patients with mental health disorders can now simply opt out by giving doctors the authority to provide “treatment” for assisted suicide.

Statistics show patients who received level 1 treatment for depression, had only a 30% success rate in depression remission. It further shows, that only 67% on level 4 treatment, had their depression in remission. It’s insane how mental healthcare still fails patients year after year.

So true. I would add that treatment should have a goal. Sitting in therapy every week talking about the same trauma over and over won’t yield a different result (I see this often). Discuss it and move forward with a plan of action. Don’t dwell.

Are they on meds? And if so, do you know what kind? The splurge is not only prevalent in ADHD people, but antidepressants also shuts off the emotional system in the brain, so it keeps looking for something to at least bring a tiny dopamine hit. Changing treatment might very well be the solution.

“Breaking the stigma” around mental disorders and addiction have become a cliché. I think we should stop using it. Stigmas keep people from speaking up and we’ve long crossed that bridge. Everybody is talking about it, yet it’s getting worse. Stop virtue signaling and start by taking action.

Women are roughly 50% more likely to suffer from depression. However, men are five times more likely than women to die by suicide. Depression, often untreated or unnoticed, remains a silent killer. #MentalHealthAwareness

Indeed it can. It also has wider uses worthy of exploring. One thing I would argue is that you should never “accept” your illness and condition. Modern science and advocates like us know it can be treated without chemicals and elevate quality of life significantly. I’m one example.

Don’t just randomly engage with psychedelics. Especially bought from wherever. Even Ayahuasca, regardless of its rave reviews, have some incidents or adverse effects and even death. Be smart. It’s clinically proven that most people suffering from mental conditions are highly intelligent. Use that.

A lot of people ask me about psychedelics as a treatment for mental disorder, anxiety and addiction. Yes, in some cases it may work wonders. Ayahuasca almost always comes up. New flavor of the month I guess. Researched and medically supervised, it’s a worthwhile talk to have with your doc.

Women are roughly twice as likely to suffer from depression than men. However, men, especially among the highest status men, generally refrain from acknowledging their feelings, emotions and state of well-being, causing significantly higher incidences of suicide in men then with women.

As we close in again on the holidays here's your annual reminder that "all the joy of Xmas" can be fucking traumatic for a lot of people for many and varied reasons. By all means enjoy yourselves, but don't berate those of us who can't. A little compassion goes a long way. Tis the season, after all.

Alternatives to Antidepressants include ketamine therapy for rapid relief, ECT for severe cases, TMS for non-invasive treatment, and lifestyle changes. These alternatives may offer effective solutions with fewer side effects for some. Always ask questions before swallowing a pill.(Psychology Today).

Antidepressants – Weighing the Risks Antidepressants help many, but drawbacks include limited long-term effectiveness (30% face treatment-resistant depression), side effects like emotional blunting, and withdrawal challenges ("brain zaps," nausea). Make informed choices (BMJ, Psychology Today).

We trust doctors with our lives, yet too often we skip the hard questions about how anxiety and depression meds might shape our future. Psychiatry offers relief, but at what cost? Side effects can be as volatile as the struggles we aim to escape. Why do so few people know quality of life sacrifice?
