Does this amount of rust affect very long-term hull integrity? If the rust does not meaningfully reduce the life cycle of the ship, it is only a reflection of the long deployment. As you mention, it is more relevant to the well-being of the ship's complement after such a long time.

The escalation management by the US and Europe has been a complete disaster. The frog is at boiling point and I feel the margin is nearing zero. A "hybrid" attack gone full kinetic, an overzealous SAM, any bad step and there is almost no room to manoeuvre.

If Ukraine was equipped with a non-insignificant number of our "out-dated" weapons either prior to the full-scale invasion or immediately after, it would not be struggling as much it is doing now. Ukraine is forced to innovate the hell out of its problems because of necessity.
