"There will be no adverse consequences" if you snitch on people doing DEI today; but if you do not tell us in 10 days, expect "adverse consequences." These are the guys who complain about weaponization of government.

So now there's an EO restricting government censorship next to an EO enforcing government censorship.

Caregivers as experimenters: Reducing unfamiliarity helps shy children learn words

Thinking a lot of what Arendt termed, "a fool's freedom." The deprivation of rights comes not from being deprived of the right to an opinion, but from that opinion not mattering at all. What the oligarchs coin as free speech isn't actually freedom because nothing we think matters to them.
The image is an excerpt from a text discussing the concept of freedom and human rights. Key highlighted sections include:

1. Yellow Highlight:

It argues that individuals in internment camps in democratic countries might experience more freedom of opinion than under despotism or totalitarian regimes, but this does not alter their fundamental state of rightlessness.

The fundamental deprivation of human rights is described as the loss of a place in the world where opinions matter and actions are effective.

2. Purple Highlight:

The freedom of opinion is referred to as "a fool's freedom" because it is rendered meaningless when one’s thoughts have no consequence.

It concludes that people deprived of human rights lack not just freedom but also the capacity for action and significance in the world.

The passage critiques the superficial nature of certain freedoms when fundamental human rights are denied.

People with power need more rules than people without. People with power need more checks than people without. People with power need harder consequences than people without.

Do you think it's true that there are people who go through life without constant pain?

"Pence won't endorse Trump" My dude, they had a scaffold up with your name on the noose. "Not endorsing" him is pretty spineless.

To my shame, I have never read A Portrait of Dorian Grey. Goddamn Oscar Wilde was such a flaming queer I mean I knew he was but fuck he seriously didn't try to hide it at all. It's hot.

Rich Republicans want to go back to the good old days. May I recommend Thermidor of 1793?

Since this place is open, all I can say is, block early, block fast, screenshot Nazi/troll accounts to warn others, and do NOT engage. Do not QT bad actors. Their accounts will die/wither and they will leave. Defend your queer/trans skeeps with every last ounce.

Capitalism requires that customers pay for goods/services and, as a preference, that any given entity gets more and more customers as time goes on. So whats the logic in a company saying "no, you're not allowed to be our customer any more, the open enrollment is over"?

Been thinking about this: I used to believe the National Guard was the good branch of our military, the ones actually doing their jobs and defending us instead of spreading colonialism. But the fact that they received an order to watch children drown and die *and followed them* has changed my mind.
