Check Bexar County Elections to see whether you need to vote May 2. FYI, bc these kinds of elections are poorly attended (sadly,) your vote matters that much more! So go vote to hire the person you want to work for you! Vote early!

Listening to oldies..."Your silver tongue has turned to clay and your golden rule to rust." "The chance of a lifetime in a lifetime of chance." Any lyric in any song by Dan Fogelberg.

As much as I miss the food at a recently closed favorite restaurant, what I’m going to miss more is their excellent take out containers. My whole plastic tub collection was pretty much from this one place. Perfect sizes, lids that closed tightly, easy to stack. Need a new place.

This fight is hyper local to Bexar County but will be happening all across TX soon as water becomes even more scarce.

A flier advertising a fundraiser to help pay for the legal fight against a developer who wants to discharge sewage over our main water source, the Edwards Aquifer.

I would like to announce that after observing w/horror how many coffee pods this household used in a week, we have now embraced our parent's best practice and bought a 10-cup percolator that does not need a paper filter. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Here's what I learned today. Each of us has to be sand in the machine. To whatever extent you can, stop them. Make them put it in writing, make them document, drag your feet. However you can, force them to stop what they are doing to defend it. Be the sand in the machine.

For TX especially but everyone. If something happening in yr life makes you angry (looking at you San Antonio abt the Pride crosswalks being painted over) don’t get mad at the mayor, get mad (and VOTE OUT) the state lege who caused it. Work to change the decision makers w/every bit of energy you can

For Mnpls folks. Here’s the St Anthony Falls part of the river today.

Photo of the frozen St Anthony Falls in Minneapolis. Stone Arch Bridge in the background with the river frozen at its base as well. Cold days here in the Twin Cities!

Ready for the snow. We’re new at dominos so may have to call MN relatives to get clarification of the rules.

A small wooden table set up with dominos with snow falling in the background. Ready for the snow day!

Overheard teachers at a diner. Not talking abt books, talking about good luck to have a classroom w/no windows, glad the walls are cinder block, doesn’tknow how she is going to lock the door bc it swings out and doesnt lock from the inside, how to keep the kids quiet…broke my heart.

Can confirm after today’s run that I am the oldest and slowest runner in the St Anthony Main neighborhood. Why aren’t all these speedy flatbellies at work?!

“The way you beat fascism is with coalitions. The way you beat fascism is you get to a majority by including people who don’t agree about everything.” No more Perfection Politics. We need to compromise with people who are like-us enough. I say if you’re willing to grab an oar, welcome aboard.

A small bit of good news. Gina Ortiz Jones won the San Antonio, TX, mayor run off race against a MAGA opponent by 12,282 votes. Not great voter turnout out (17%) but better than other off years. Not the first woman mayor for SA but the first gay. Happy Pride Month!

Shout out to Lowe's. They made a frustrating experience involving the install of a new clothes dryer a lot less frustrating. Lowe's empowers its staff to make things right & apologize for the inconvenience. HD you are dead to me, it's Lowe's all the way.

Sitting in a mom&pop taco shop, Fox News on the TV, staff said they don’t have any way to turn it off or change it. I haven’t listened to Fox before, no wonder the MAGAs vote the way they do. This is awful.
