I truly think that with all the self discovery Stolas will be doing this season about himself and his new life he will appreciate having a good friend and someone he can rely on to look out for his daughter now that he can't.

I think Vassago will agree to help Stolas and then the rest of the episode is the plan. But obviously there's no guarantee on how Octavia will feel in all this, she may refuse to see Stolas or be rescued.

If it's Via's Birthday, Stolas will remind Vassago of his love for his daughter and to please help him see his little girl. Or if this is an arranged marriage or betrothal Stolas may tell him how he wouldn't escape this fate but now he needs Vassago's help to save his daughter

2) Or if this is closer to the time of Via being born or has just been born, he'll turn down the offer because of the love for his daughter and so he wants to be there for and to protect her. To advocate for her as he knows she will have to grow up in the same institution he did

1) Over the years he has been convinced of his role and destiny in the Goetia family. So has left behind his teenage rebellion and has focused on being the prince his father expects and pressured him to be (possibly hinted at in the portrait)

Now depending on when the second flashback takes place. Stolas could turn Vassago's plan to run away together down for 2 reasons.

I think we will get a song sequence here of Vassago telling Stolas of his feelings and the happiness he believes they could share together. But ultimately I think Stolas will turn this offer down.

So in the second flashback I think we'll see Vassago come to visit Stolas and asks him to run away with him. That they can be together and leave the cage that is the Goetia family behind them.

Possibly the night of or before Stolas's marriage to Stella or maybe around the time Via is born. This is only a guess that I'm basing on Stolas's outfit. Which is actually the same outfit he's wearing in the portrait we see of him in The Circus
