I’ve never had a travel trailer newer than 1963 so this whole conversation makes me chuckle a bit. BUT glad to see you bake & cook while camping! Its one of my favorite parts. The Dixie stove in our 1957 trailer even has a broiler 😆

I’m packing and…how much cast iron is normal?? 😂 this is less than half. Reedonkulous. I do love it tho.

A variety of black, heavy cast iron pans are scattered on top of one another on a stove. There’s a wok, double griddle, single griddle, and various depths fry pans.

Phew, what an excellent busy week. Got the basics set up at our new place in medford. Figuring our chickens, pool maintenance, irrigation (people here dont blow out their irrigation?!), meeting neighbors. Finally hit the home bakery 2 doors down today, AMAZING sourdough! Tomorrow back to Boise.

We’re so busy & having so much fun at the new house, I’ve hardly taken any pics. The dogs are super fascinated by the things floating in the pool - esp the floating crab thermometer 😃 but they’re not huge swimmers so they dont get in, which is excellent. Chickens are very entertaining!

Dang, just looked & looked but cant find a photo of it. But yeah, it looked like this. It just showed up in my flower bed - may have come with the horse manure compost i hauled in. Perrenial, it was huge after about 10 years, like 6’ tall. I would cut out all the dead stalks every spring.

Lark is so depressed. Not only does she sneeze like crazy every time she goes outside, her friend Raven is stuck at the vet all day for a Cushing’s test. Big time sads, even though she doesn’t even LIKE Raven 😂 (she pretends she doesn’t, anyway).

Woooow after a few ups & downs it sounds like this amazing 1955 house in Medford, OR might be ours in 4 weeks. Oh and chickens! Stay tuned to find out! The pups and my husband will get to enjoy it for a couple months without me though, while I wrap up my work & rental lease in boise. Sigh.

Ahhhh super relaxing up here in ponderosa. Cool days & nights so the campground is really quiet. Tons of open sites. Biked to osprey overlook, watched a raven family dismember a squirrel. Two juveniles with the adult.

Will share some more trip photos now that we’re on the way back to boise (boo). Crescent city, CA - we only made it there for a few hours but it was great to be out in the salt air. Battery Point Lighthouse, a Black Oystercatcher, looking across the waves.

This has been a good, seriously whirlwind week traveling. Lotta miles, lotta socializing, a lot of thinking about the future. Medford seems like the best fit for us, for several reasons. So we hit open houses today, and did a bunch of drive bys. Next 6 months should go by quick (cant move til Dec).

Fun day bike & soak. wilson creek trails & givens hot springs. Horned Larks everywhere, plus a Loggerhead Shrike! Plus i’m always reminded why i gave up beef, CAFO feedlots are horrific & disgusting. Free range cattle in the high desert are a sacrilege.

Yeah wow um WOW, look at ashland :/ thanks for that link, SUPER helpful & love maps. Interesting insurance data from ID showed increasing premiums in places not in forests. Grasslands, sage, ag. From fast wind driven prairie-style fire. So, as you say, complex. I wish corvallis was cheaper 🤔

Well the Eagle Island SP in Eagle, ID was fine for one night to dewinterize the camper but I can’t say I recommend it for a camping experience until a few years have passed. Its brand new, trees are small and the sun just bakes that bare dirt & asphalt. They did not grade appropriately for drainage…

Yeah the Dixie stove & matching GE fridge in the rose gold color from the 50s. Fridge is aqua inside 100% complete didnt need anything, just clean & plug in. Stove got a deep restoration.

Here’s the raised bed I was talking about earlier with @dtwyman.bsky.social we are so lucky it was at our rental, it cranks out the greens for me. The cold frame is such a great simple design, polycarb panels on 3 sides, fence at the back of the bed. Keeps out the squirrels and my berry loving pup.

A raised bed garden with lots of green plants, including sorrel (the biggest) strawberries, and baby peas and mixed greens. Oh and cilantro& spinach.

The polycarbonate cold frame in place, it has a screen top so it doesnt get too hot and the rain can water the bed
