#go3spoilers #goodomens frying my brain for 3 days straight over why life on mars? was mentioned and then reading this 😩

From norselandsrock.com:

In Bowie’s song, Mars is used as a symbol of unreachable possibility. His question “Is there life on Mars?” becomes a cry of existential frustration, suggesting that the promises of media and society feel hollow and unreachable. Mars becomes shorthand for a better, more meaningful existence that’s forever out of reach.

Unlike Space Oddity, where Major Tom drifts into literal isolation, Life on Mars? keeps its feet on the ground. Bowie’s use of space here is more ironic and poetic than sci-fi: Mars isn’t a destination, it’s a question. A symbol of hope, disappointment, and the unreachable.

When the girl in the song retreats into the surreal world of cinema after a fight with her parents, she finds that “The film is a saddening bore / For she’s lived it ten times or more.” While humanity looks outward for meaning, the song suggests we’ve failed to find it here on Earth.

This is really the crux of the song. Life on Mars? doesn’t ask whether there’s life on another planet – it asks whether there’s meaning in the one we’re stuck on. Bowie’s genius lies in turning space into a mirror, reflecting our own emotional and cultural voids.

Update on the Madleen Crew via @freedomflotilla.bsky.social IG broadcast channel and post #madleen #freedomflotilla #releasethecrew #alleyesondeck

We have just received confirmation that all 11 volunteers and 1 Al Jazeera journalist from the 'Madleen' are currently at Ashdod Port. They are being processed and transferred into the custody of Israeli authorities. They are expected to be moved to the Ramleh detention facility unless they agree to leave immediately, in which case they may be permitted to fly out of Tel Aviv as early as tonight. We continue to demand the immediate release of all volunteers and the return of the stolen aid. Their detention is unlawful and a violation of international law.

Madleen Status via IG broadcast channel of the freedom flotilla

At 3:02 AM EEST, 110 nautical miles from Gaza, in International waters.the Madleen was unlawfully boarded by the Israeli military. Quadcopters approached and attacked the people and the boat spraying a white chemical-like substance hurting their eyes. Signals were jammed, and disturbing audio was broadcast to interfere with communication over the radio system as the IOF boarded. The unarmed civilian crew was abducted, the 'Madleen' seized, and the ship's humanitarian aid including baby formula, food, and medical supplies also taken.
We have not yet heard from the 12 people who were aboard the Madleen.
Their whereabouts remain unknown.

Francesca Albanese x post via IG:

just spoke again with the Flotilla, incl its Comm Room in Catania
All looks calm and safe now. Speedboats watching; but the flotilla continues its sailing.
It will be a long night. And as they say and we say, "we are together"

Fancesca Albanese X Post via IG:

BREAKING!!! - 11:18PM UK time; I am with the flotilla online. They have just been reached by the Israel speedboats - 5 vessels circling the flotilla.
The captain is instructing the team to stay calm and seated, with their passports and life jackets on. I hear them speaking with Israeli soldiers as I type... telling they are carrying humanitarian aid and go in peace. For the time being they are just circled. I am with them, recording everything.
