Being laid off feels especially hard when I remember how many times I put my job first before my own health, well-being, and family. When I worked weeknights until 11pm and on weekends to hit production quotas, during PTO, and filed three stories the day before it happened. There's a lot of grief.

The new Mission Impossible is excellent. I'd love ten more of the underwater scenes bc how tf did they block that.

To add to Lis's excellent thread, be really careful of uni programs that sell you on a guarantee of getting a job in games or advise you to get SUPER specific out of the gate. So many students are graduating with degrees in games but feel like their aren't applicable or where they should be.

Okay, my turn again! Do you need a narrative designer or game writer? Lucky you, because I need a job! I’ve led narrative teams and worked on some of your favorite franchises! Based in LA and not looking to relocate, but happy to travel! Open to full time or contract!

Infinity Nikki is so cute! I started playing for a talk I'm putting together and I didn't know it's an open world fashion game + platformer + crafting + logic puzzles + "wonder in the world" cinematics, etc. Let me customize a house and all my cash is yours 💞💘

I was looking up the history of them and it all seems very odd. The movies almost feel like they're meant to be episodes.

Genuinely have been watching 4-6 episodes a day which I thought was a hefty amount... I just need to get serious and reinvent time.

It's also funny how game writers are viewed inside/outside the studio. Fans think writers have so much power and sway over a game when, in reality, that's seldom true.

Does anyone have a good source for game job definitions and pipeline as an intro for students? I remember a PDF going around about a year ago but I can't find it.

The biggest waste of money I’ve seen in video game development, across many years and studios (not my current one - one of the reasons I wanted to work there), wasn’t on graphics. It was abruptly being told to throw out months or years of work bc one executive decided they didn’t like something.
