I don't think adding characters who are ableist and use ableist slurs that are accurately reflecting the culture online is a problem or done for "shock value". It's done as it's obviously meant to, to reflect and represent the internet. This IS what the internet is like.

People on the in game forum (a message board where people obsess over missing people, post pictures of random women in public and other unsavory behaviors) use this word 4 times total. (That is the entirety of its use in the game) The way this is phrased really misrepresents that fact.
