HELL GATE CITY is a one part mixture of radio broadcast (a neo-noir New York City) to one part missing person’s case, which spirals into a case of missing identity.

A radio DJ covers city news (robot uprising!), human interest stories (the man that even sex robots rejected) and advertisements (almost virus free tech!).

And between these intersperses his live streamed, electronically retrieved dreams for his audience’s entertainment. A mystery begins when the dreams reveal suppressed memories about the nature of his father’s disappearance and his own forgotten deeds.

While the stories can have darkness, the tone remains light, preferring irony and good humor where possible.

The sound effects are well chosen too: a few reverberations, echoes and distortions break up the continuous speech.

I awoke the kraken. With a super-fast computer, you can overload it quite a bit before it shows signs of strain. The rolling back of support gradually increased the strain. Also, I had avoided upgrading earlier b/c the OS allowed me to use my old iMac as a 2nd monitor. Newer ones did not. 4/x

So, I guess it started a five months before Jan-12, I just didn't realize it. The reimagined episode grew to >40 mins with more tracks, effects, and plugins. And it was the first time I experienced epic slowdowns. At the time, I assumed it was my fault for pushing the limits. I was wrong. 3/x
