Jason Arday: Demand a public inquiry now | Good Law Project
Commission an immediate public inquiry into how to ensure a responsible press given its contribution to Dr Arday’s tragic death.

Terrible news about Jason Arday. Contrary to the recent media frenzy, plagiarism is not an isolated problem in academia & certainly not an EDI issue. The deeply entrenched bullying culture on the other hand is a serious barrier to inclusive environments in which truly transformative work can thrive.

Look what arrived today, or at least the ebook did. This is the first encyclopedia devoted exclusively to medieval women’s writing globally, focusing on the thousand-year period between 500-1500. Entries on about 250 women writers plus longer thematic essays. You’re welcome.

A lion’s mane jellyfish washed up on South Beach in Troon on the west coast of Scotland. One of the largest jellyfish, it is a beautiful if intimidating presence for those of us who swim off this beach or walk on the shore: the tentacles can reach 3m & will sting long after they’ve been stranded
