"What... of course not... bears are not as tall as buildings, can flatten villages in an instant, and breathe fire hot enough to melt your armor."

"They are usually very big... And we probably can fight a dragon."

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

"I believe there is a dragon den nearby... Hidden inside that mountain." Pointing at the place... it was SO far away...

The elf nodded. "Oh... I know this place..." She looked around them for a minute. "Do you want to try monster blood?"

Frieren nodded her head and resumed walking, her staff disappeared. "Any other magic you would be interested in?"

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

"Oh no... I did tell you I can get you books for that, and I will. I just don't have them with me right now."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

"First, study the fundamentals of magic and mana, and I can teach you those basic spells if you wish."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

"When you master a spell, you can command it however you want." She fires a very weak shot against the rock. Then a sequence of rapid weak fires... And lastly, a very big shot that completely disintegrated the rock. "All of those, same spell."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

"Then it is all about aiming. Killing isn't mandatory when casting an offensive spell."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

"It's just mana with killing intent... Doesn't require the creation of anything like fire. Fancy spells can have their uses, but in reality you can win most fights with just those two spells."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

"This is the basic defense spell... And this here is the basic attack spell..." She points her staff forwards towards a rock. A blueish white magic circle appeared in front of the staff and it fired a couple of energy beams against it. Each beam hitting the rock broke a part of it.

It was not meant to be full force... 💧 The punch hit the shield as if it was an immovable object... It probably hurt...

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

"Fireball is not a basic attack spell... Here, I'll show you..." She creates a shield in front of her made out of light hexagons... "This is a basic shield spell. Try punching it."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

"Usually the basic attack and defense spells are very beginner friendly."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

"It is actually a complex spell... not very beginner friendly. Anything that creates matter out of what looks to be nothing will require a lot of knowledge about mana and how it works."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

"Each mage has fun with magic in a different way, what type of spells do you think you would like?"

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

"Magic items and casting magic isn't the same... But knowing magic can help a lot with using magic items."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

"Definitively a warrior then... Never seen any warrior wanting to learn magic considering how different the arts are."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

"Just remember that magic can be very frustrating... It takes a long time to see progress, especially if you do not have a teacher to guide your steps."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

"Do you really wish to learn magic then? I don't have starting books with me right now, but I can get them for you if you really want."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

"It's not that hard, you could learn magic too with a decade of study and dedication." Not hard...?

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

"She was... I am her apprentice, and I believe I am the mage who slayed the most amount of demons in the world. That alone should tell you how good she was as a mentor."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

"A great mage... probably the greatest human mage of all time. She died almost a thousand years ago, but some of her spells are still standing strong to this day. She was also a very weird woman... but she thought me well."

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

They looked real, felt real, and even the smell of flowers hitting them now was very much real. "It's my favorite spell, It was my master's spell as well."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

She raises her staff once more, and suddenly, multiple flowers of all different colors start to appear all around them. There was a very ethereal beauty to how those flowers simply grew despite how cold it was.

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

"We get rid of the snow, and then it should work." She extended her hand, and her staff materialized, then, a magical circle appeared underneath her feet, and a gust of wind rushed outwards from her, pushing all the snow away.

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

"I'd really appreciate that." Once they left the city and got some distance from it, she looked at Gwen. "I think I can show you the spell now."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

"I think like two hours... until you found me, of course. I'm used to travel, so that was very embarrassing from my part..."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

"Won't happen... hopefully... in my defense, I was also very sleepy before and didn't think about proper protections against the cold..."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

Warmer clothes on, Frieren grabbed her case, staff on the other hand, and headed outside, back on the horrible cold! "I forgot just how cold it was for some reason..."

"Ice shavings don't have a taste... it's just ice. The flavor you add to it is what makes the combination work. It's like, the ice brings in the texture only."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

"That is how I have to do, yeah." Nodding her head, she looked kind of happy talking about those spells.

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

"It should be. Unfortunately, the spell doesn't add flavor, that part I still need to improvise... Maybe one day I'll find a book with a spell that could add some flavor to it!"

"I also have a spell that creates shaved ice! But I think it's too cold for that..."

"I have one that creates a field of flowers." This one isn't weird, it's just her favorite spell. "I can show you once we are outside the city if you want."

"I love collecting all kinds of spells, including those people would find... weird..."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

"So what I had imagined. Maybe there is a spell that lets me taste them like a vampire..."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

"Now I have a question about that... there are different types of blood, do they have slight differences in their tastes?"

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

"Now that sounds like a very good thing for a vampires partner, I suppose. And that's also good to know, so we won't need blood with urgency since our travel is a very short one."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

"Only yesterday?... Most people have to feed at least once per day, sometimes more. Sorry, I really don't know anything about vampires."

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

"I'm not letting someone traveling with me have to feed themselves on rats, we will find something better." Stepping outside, time to leave the room.

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

"We shall add monster hunting to the list of things to do during our journey then. Maybe their blood will be like a delicacy?"

000

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒆 @heightofmagic.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

"It doesn't really sound appetizing, to be honest..." She headed towards the door. "Whst about monster blood? Plenty of monsters around."
