Note how comprehensive the TRO is. It itemizes every aspect of the Trump DoJ’s scheme to threaten poll workers and election administrators, and forbids each one. Courts are wise to the Trump regime’s lawlessness and bad faith. The judge is being super clear about what is prohibited. 2/
Six item list of conduct the Court tells Trump DoJ to stop.

Just in: Judge Ana Reyes will be formally investigating whether Trump DoJ has been lying to the Court, a prelude to holding DoJ lawyers in contempt. www.bloomberglaw.com/product/blaw/b… (story paywalled, screenshot below)

A Washington federal judge is opening a formal inquiry into whether government
lawyers made misrepresentations in court about President Donald Trump's plans
to renovate a community golf course.
Judge Ana Reyes of the US District Court for the District of Columbia announced
the inquiry during a Friday hearing in litigation over the fate of the East Potomac
Park golf course, the latest target of Trump's efforts to reshape the capital's historic
landmarks and spaces.
The judge said she could conduct the inquiry herself, or it could be conducted by
a special master appointed by the court to determine if the government made
false statements or otherwise violated ethics rules.
The hearing came two days after the Justice Department confirmed to the court
that the golf course and surrounding areas will close on Nov. 15, after Trump
posted about the closure and renovation multiple times on his social media
platform Truth Social.
It was an about-face for the department, whose lawyers insisted in court nine days
before its Oct. 28 notice that they weren't aware of any plans to close the course,
notwithstanding Trump's social media posts.

Do read the entire introduction to his decision preserving California’s voting from Trump’s interference. Full opinion available here fingfx.thomsonreuters.com/gfx/legal…. Full introduction in pic. 3/ #LawFedi
This case is about the right of every American citizen to vote in a free and fair election.
Never before in American history has the federal government, on the eve of an election,
sought to coerce a state and local government to abandon their own Constitutional elections
procedures and bend to the will of the Executive Branch. In bringing this lawsuit, the Executive
would have this Court believe that it reigns as a sole sovereign. But California and its people
are sovereign, too.
…
Every generation in our history has witnessed repeated clashes between those who seek
to limit access to the ballot and those who fight to ensure it. In this case, the federal government
seeks to segregate and exclude over 20,000 ballots. This request violates longstanding
constitutional principles mandating that states have control over their elections. If Plaintiff's
last-minute request for relief were granted, either party could create chaos for their own
political purposes to disrupt the election process. Over 20,000 registered Californians would
potentially lose the right that generations of Americans have fought to preserve.
The Government's Application for Temporary Restraining Order is DENIED.

The Roberts Court has issued a shadow docket ruling in USPS v. California, rejecting the Trump regime’s request for a stay of lower court judges’ preliminary injunctions prohibiting USPS from implementing a Final Rule meant to take over vote-from-home (absentee/mail voting). 1/ #LawFedi
From the Supreme Court docket: “Sep 14 2026
Application (26A305) for stay presented to Justice Jackson and by her referred to the Court is denied. The Government is unlikely to succeed on the merits of its challenge to the District Court's preliminary injunction. And the equitable factors applicable for obtaining emergency relief from this Court do not favor a stay. Justice Kavanaugh, concurring.

Applicant demonstrates particular chutzpah in claiming that states should
have "started making at least some preparations to comply months ago" (Appl. 31-32) with the expected rule after Applicant successfully convinced this Court just two weeks ago that earlier challenges to the future rule were unripe and that states had no standing because any steps they took to comply with the expected rule were based
on speculation and not concrete injury. See Trump v. California, No. 26A139, slip op. at 4 (U.S. Aug. 24, 2026).

USPS is now claiming that it is “too late” for the plaintiffs to obtain judicial relief. Addressing this, Talwani used the USPS’s own earlier claims as to why the plaintiffs’ previous effort to obtain relief was too early. 6/
Two weeks before the Final Rule issued, Defendants' counsel represented to the court
that:
“when the final rule is implemented, if it affects an individual voter's ability to vote,
then they certainly have standing to challenge that final rule. And courts are able to
work in an expedited basis. It would only take a very short amount of time for a
temporary restraining order or a preliminary injunction to issue.”
And two days ago, when Defendants asked the court to vacate the preliminary injunction entered
in LWVM prior to the Supreme Court's Order, Defendants represented that Plaintiffs were not
without a remedy, for where the Rule had now issued, they could "simply amend their
complaint" and challenge the Final Rule directly.

The plaintiff states in Calif v. Trump, the case in Mass District Court, have therefore asked the judge for an expedited decision process on the plaintiffs’ new motion for a temporary injunction against the USPS rule being implemented. 8/
To address the preliminary injunction and stay on an expedited basis, Plaintiff States
request that the Court enter the following briefing and hearing schedule in conjunction with its
temporary restraining order and emergency stay, as set forth in the attached proposed order:
• August 28, 2026: Defendants' Opposition to Plaintiff States' Motion for Preliminary
Injunction and Stay.
• August 31, 2026: Plaintiff States' Reply to Defendants' Opposition.
• September 2, 2026, or as soon thereafter that the Court can accommodate: hearing on
Plaintiff States' Motion for a Preliminary Injunction and Stay.
This accelerated schedule is warranted by the importance of the issues; the fast-
approaching election, including state law deadlines to mail ballots by as early as September 4,
2026 (N.C. Gen. Stat. § 163-227.10(a)); the gravity of the harms caused to Plaintiff States and
their administration of elections—particularly the rapidly approaching November 2026 general
election-and the likelihood of appellate review.

(Sorry, had to pause in the midst of this thread). The Elias Group did something clever and amusing. They filed both clean and a redlined copies of their proposed amended complaint. The Roberts Six ignored the fact that USPS had issued a final ruling on […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
As detailed below, Defendants have taken swift action to implement the President's commands. The Department of Homeland Security ("DHS") and United States Customs and Immigration Service ("USCIS") have taken steps to develop a mechanism whereby states can access sensitive voter data compiled from numerous federal agencies and databases, threatening imminent (if not ongoing) privacy-related injuries. And the United States Postal Service ("USPS or the "Postal Service") has promulgated a final rule that will profoundly and unlawfully disrupt
mail voting in every state.

Here’s DoJ’s official conclusion as to the cause of the peeling liner at the Reflecting Pool: “hasty and botched work”. (Worth reading entire paragraph in pic.) 5/
Specifically, the newly released documents reveal that work on installing the lining almost immediately fell behind, due to a combination of very rainy and windy weather, repeated failures of testing on the sealing of the expansion joints, and delays in obtaining sealing product at the
worksite. The rush to complete the project led to hasty and botched work that was not remediated before the project was finished and the fencing removed.

The Trump regime’s motion to dismiss attempts to throw the Department of the Interior (home of the U.S. Park Service) under the bus. One representative paragraph in pic. 4/
DO provided less than fulsome information at the outset of this case. However, the
information subsequently demanded by USAO disclosed by DOL-which was not known to the
prosecutors or the grand jury before the return of the indictment-strongly suggest that a rushed
and botched installation by AlC, the primary contractor, led to the damage to the lining of the
Reflecting Pool. It was not until USAO-DC repeatedly reached out to DOI dozens and dozens of
times that DOI slowly started trickling information to USAO-DC. Had DOI been forthcoming
with the information clearly in its possession, the government would not have sought a grand jury
indictment.
Furthermore, prosecutors have an affirmative obligation pursuant to Brady v.
Maryland, 373 U.S. 83 (1963), the Jencks Act, 18 U.S.C. § 3500, Rule 16 of the Superior Court
Rules of Criminal Procedure, and Rule 3.8 of the Rules of Professional Conduct to produce
information to the defense. DOT's failure to fully and accurately provide information to USAO-
DC undermined the government's ability to abide by these responsibilities.

In a nutshell: www.newyorker.com/magazine/2026/06/… 1/
As the 2024 U.S. election approached, the team saw an opportunity. Tate forged relationships with Barron Trump and Donald Trump, Jr. In the weeks before the vote, he pumped out pro-MaGa content, mobilizing young men in such large numbers that Kamala Harris later named him as a key factor in her defeat. When the result was in, Tate posted jubilantly on X: "THE PATRIARCHY IS BACK." After the Inauguration, he
added, "The Tates will be free, Trump is the president."

Do read this, it has very important background on how to deal with Todd Blanche and Clarence Thomas and the Comstock Act if we want to prevent nationwide abortion bans […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
But others viewed complacency as dangerous. "I fully agree
with the [Biden] administration's position ... that it's illegal to
use Comstock to ban abortion,'
" Minnesota Sen. Tina Smith told
NOTUS. "However, I can see, as can everybody else, that the
extreme right-wing MAGA Republicans have a road map for
using Comstock to do exactly that, and so, as a legislator, it's
my job to do everything I can to take that tool away from
them."

I’ve been deeply, intensely hard at work completing a manuscript. Submitted today. Spent some time outdoors this evening, picking my head up to the sky first time in a while.
Setting sun illuminating the clouds, turning them pink underneath. Another angle on pink-bottomed, gray-blue-topped clouds, illuminated by the setting sun.
