Tis the season for praline-topped apple bread! Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. 1/2 the sugar in the batter - plenty of sweetness in the topping. 8x8 pan instead of loaf pan to improve topping-to-bread/cake ratio when eating it. 🍁🍎🍁
Square apple bread/cake on a white plate with butter/brown sugar praline on the top and dripping down the sides. The plate is on a granite-like countertop.

Some trees really like to show off this time of year!
A large tree with red and orange leaves in front of trees with green leaves. The tree is on the side of a rural road in Medina County, Ohio. The sun is shining and there are some clouds in the blue sky.

Today is Ohio Pint Day - which I have not heard of before. But I saw breweries were going to have these pretty glasses! The one near me opens at 4 on Tuesdays so I got there soon after they opened. (Paper towel inside the glass to show the design.)
Three views of a special beer glass to celebrate craft breweries in Ohio. The clear glass is decorated in black and gold - stylized feathers; a person with an arm extended, holding a glass; the shape of the state with “drink beer made here” on it; and a rectangle that says “Ohio craft beer.”

I hope everything is okay with @livrunsfast.bsky.social No new #ShowMeYourKnits yet so here’s a #WhatsOnYourNeedles - This Musselburgh Hat lives in my purse to work on while waiting. So slow progress on it. But I’ve switched to the second color now. Had a hard time deciding what to use.
A Musselburgh Hat photographed on a wood table. Just over halfway - the first end is Hedgehog Fibres sock 🧶 in “Urchin” and the second half is going to be knit with the same yarn in the “Morello” colorway. Urchin is white/off-white with small blips of pink, purple, blue, and other colors. Morello is variegated off-white, pink, though several shades of red.

Some of the colors in my Anthology work for the #ShowMeYourKnits theme this week. 🍁 Row 177/212. Happy how it’s knitting up and great to have a project like this that’s easy to pick up and put down.
A round shawl/throw based on Pi for knitting in the round. Each round is 576 stitches but will double again to 1152 on round 197. The yarn is Deep Yak Silk Fingering by An Caitin Dubh. 50/50 yak/silk. This is a 2022 advent set I bought on destash. The center starts with reds and moves through purples, blues, a little green, and then into golds and starting to move into a rosy rust. Chilly rainy day so the shawl is draped across my lap and legs as I knit with my feet up on an ottoman.

A bit beaten down by the week so I went to Blooming Roots Farm and got a $20 bouquet off the flower wagon in their yard. Their flowers are always beautiful!

Sharing this Taylor (from Berroco #221 Simple Pleasures) for #ShowMeYourKnits SCARVES week! We used to always go to Hilton Head for Thanksgiving. I always stopped in the yarn/book store to see what was new. One year, I bought the booklet and yarn for this!
A multicolored long scarf photographed on a metal bench on a concrete patio. The main colors are purples, black, and a little red. A large number of stitches are cast on and the scarf is knitted from side to side. Many of the yarns are eyelash or have sequins. Yarns are held double and the ends are left long to serve as fringe.

What’s on your needles for #ShowMeYourKnits - Had cast on with gray handspun but wasn’t happy the pattern was showing up. So I cast on with some natural handspun yesterday and think this will be okay. Pattern is Dane Shawl, free on Ravelry. 🧶 spun by my mom in 1999. Will be a gift for her #93

I always enjoy seeing “what’s on your needles” when that’s the theme for #ShowMeYourKnits I finished this Dip3b bag cover last night and pinned it out. Some of my mom’s handspun 🧶. This is the 7th I’ve made - the finished 5th and 6th in the photo, too.
Two finished zippered bags and the cover of a third one pinned out on a gray/beige blocking mat. The bottom one is gray, white, and purple. The middle one is white, gray, and pink. Both are handspun yarns. The tope on is Mal Rios in Scorpio, Libra, and Glitter (blue/black, red, and dark gold). The top one has a dragonfly charm on the zipper pull. The bottom one has star charm on the zipper pull.

I modified one of Sarah Schira’s gnome patterns to knit a fireman for my niece, a textile engineer and VP of R&D for a company that makes PPE for firefighters. I had to order the jacket yarn online and I wasn’t happy with it at first but in the end, I’m happy how he turned out. Mailed him today.
A 7 1/2”/19cm gnome that resembles a firefighter. The hat is black and had a pin that says fire and rescue in the center. The jacket is beige and the body and sleeves have stripes of yellow yarn, silver silk yarn, and yellow yarn. An icord “hose” is flemished and tucked under the one arm. The other arm has a bit of wire so it can be posed and he is holding a small gray and red ax in his hand. He is photographed on a sunny patio with a Mandevilla flower behind him.

The body yarn is a brownish purple with copper MadTosh single. The border yarn is DyeForYarn mohair fluff called ‘Cat’s Hairball Problem’ Two views of the Starflake shawl. The yarns are DyeForWool merino silk fingering in purplish and rose shades. It’s a very large shawl that starts like a split star and builds out with ridges and stripes. Deep dive for yellow week for #ShowMeYourKnits. Not a color I normally use but the very *first* thing I made when I learn to knit (1994) is this cotton sweater. I used the same yarn to weave fabric and made this skirt to match the sweater. (headed to the donation box. doesn’t fit now) see ALT text
A yellow sweater and skirt spread out on a red Oriental-style rug. The sweater is handknit with several strands of yarn. The skirt fabric was woven with a single strand of yellow and there are narrow dark green stripes.
Not sure why I didn’t donate this when I lived in Florida. But it’s been in a box and will go to Goodwill soon.
The yarns came from Lion Knitting Mill in Cleveland. The mill produced high-quality knit goods for many years, selling to Pendelton, LL Bean, Eddie Bauer, etc. It closed in 1990. My mom and people in her weaving guild made multiple trips to buy cones of yarn after they closed.

A knitter in Isabell Kraemer‘s group adapted her Bao Bao Cowl pattern to make a small bag. I don’t have the pattern but I knit the shawl. I made a cover for a bag using the same 🧶. Learning from that, I knit a second - smaller needles, more stitches. It will be a better fit. More info in alt text.
Bao Bao Shawl with a small, matching zippered bag photographed on a metal bench. Yarn is Rios in Libra and Scorpio and an undyed wool, yak, silk yarn. The Dip3b stitch used in the shawl is repeated in the bag covering. Bag is purchased - don’t have the mental bandwidth to get my sewing machine out right now. Two knitted covers and a small, zippered bag (purchased) on a blocking mat with a small ruler and a box of t-pins. The bottom bag cover is the same one as in the previous photo - Rios in Libra and Scorpio and undyed wool, yak, silk yarn. The top bag is blocked and drying. Learning from the first one, this has more stitches, tighter gauge, and a better fit for the bag. Yarn is Rios in Libra, Illusion/Ilusion, and Pearl Ten.
