Thanks Jo. No idea how it ended up on my Google maps but I have found out how to remove it and lots of stuff pertaining to Google maps that I never knew about. I am continuing to enjoy your travels.

@politicanimal.bsky.social Is this your Bus24 journey? I was using maps to try and find where you were going and it has somehow stayed on my Google maps.

As I was walking to my accommodation I think that I passed somebody who I know on here but as it was school run time not appropriate to say "Are you ....?"

I am in #Hertford for a few days change of scenery and to see a friend from London for a day as I cannot face London these days. It is over 30 years since I moved to the North East so will pretend that I never lived here and just wander about.

I share your frustration Sue. Luckily I have a couple of male friends that I can call upon to help me. It's usually that I am not strong enough or tall enough to do things.

A truly amazing building. I have been on a guided tour including a visit to the top of the tower and to the room where the carillion is played.

I always use a private, one branch , optician but I have relatively complex needs. I usually pay £300 .

Terrible. There are some things you don't want parents to be aware of. It's called university social life.

No I haven't. I have seen his band at the Sage ; they were most entertaining. He has the thankless job of telling bad jokes whilst tuning and introductions happen.

When i was a child I travelled to school on an ancient Barton's bus. They waited for regular customers who relied on the 07.58 bus. Trent were viewed as despised rivals so after years of them being one company it still feels strange to me.

When I got the second alert I noticed the OK thing at the bottom. I think that it stopped a third one. I was with friends , we checked all the appliances in their newly installed kitchen for a warning before we looked at phones.

I don't order much for home delivery and was disappointed to see who the delivery firm was. Text advising me of delivery, 2 days earlier than previously advising, received as i was going out. Luckily I was able to tell them to leave item at back if house and all was well.

Lovely visit to Raby castle, Co. Durham today. The walled garden has been redesigned , the cafe is very civilised and the Castle is beautiful.

The Kinder Scout Mass Trespass took place on this day 1932, organised by Manchester communist leader and Jewish anti-fascist Benny Rothman, secretary of the British Workers' Sports Federation. The Peak District was designated the UK’s first national park in April 1951.

The Titanic hit an iceberg at 11.40pm on this day 1912. Wallace Hartley, leader of the band that carried on playing, came from Colne, Lancs. There is a plaque to the musicians in the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool, and a monument on Liverpool waterfront to 244 engineers who died.

Lovely that the building survives and that the road is Wesley Drive but sad to see it marooned in an industrial estate.

Our new piece out today in Times Higher Education about the threats to Geography in the UK - particularly fieldwork - please do share. It links to a recent snapshot survey on the challenges being faced in UK HE, which highlights the inequities of the challenges, but also fears of what is yet to come

Great thrill in my young teenage years was a drinks machine in a cafe where you could rotate the dial to mix several flavours whilst dispensing your beverage.
