Merryweather. She spent the last hour stealing my pencils. Now I’m ’stuck.’ ☺️
Photo of a gray and white kitten, snuggled on someone’s lap near a book. She has an absolutely blissful expression on her little face. Two of her litter mates can be seen in the background, also sleeping.

Kittens win. I’m stuck.

Qibli the feline pretzel. 🥨
An orange tabby cat looking up from a gray carpeted floor. He has twisted himself so that his hind legs are facing up and to the right while his fore legs face down and to the left. Despite the contortions, he finds this position quite comfortable for a nap.

My son’s kitten. He’s named her Star. ✨

Prepared a new set of pysanky dyes. Finding a set of pretty jars that were the perfect size and fit neatly into a craft drawer was quite satisfying. Hoping a fresh start will encourage me to actually create something. Finishing a project, even a simple one, would feel good. First step: done
Looking at an array of glass jars with lids, from above. The round jars are neatly set in 3 x 5 rows in a foam holder within a larger drawer.
Each lid has a round label indicating what color dye it contains
An assortment of clear glass jars arranged on a black countertop.
The sides of the jars have a pretty crystal-cut pattern.

You can see different colored dyes within the jars, which should be a nice size for dying eggs.

Casper dealt with the move by sleeping for four days (not a bad strategy). Today he’s awake and perky and ready to explore.

Moving. It’s a lot of change. The kids were excited to discover the new house already has a couple of ceiling-spiders. I’ve been informed that this one’s name is Arnold. 🙂

All of the ants are named Henry. There is no queen, so my son wanted to pick a ‘kingly’ sounding name. He said he knows there were at least 8 Henry’s, so now there are a few more.

We got our son (13) an ant farm for Christmas. He’s always loved watching insects. I am absolutely loving this project too. These little guys are amazing.

Find the cats: (With answer key)
A cozy living room featuring an elaborate cat-tree set up. There are cats visible on several of the ledges. A calico cat is peeking out from the base. The same cat tree. Six cats are marked with yellow circles: five are perching/ sprawling on the ledges. A calico cat peaks out from the base.

Midsummer. My daughter chose names from Shakespeare titles for this litter of fosters.

Some of mom’s foster kitties, for this year. Three have found new homes, but there are still 6 left.

My oldest daughter is enjoying her jewelry making course. She’s been creating these neat glasses-chains. She made one for me and, it’s the best 😁

Google image searches have been… less than useful, so I’d not used it in a while. I saw this cheesy AI image supposedly of Stephen Hillenburg, drawing SpongeBob, along with an ‘inspirational biography.’ Just curious, I tried a search, and, Oh my!😳 I took a screenshot of the results…
An obviously ‘off’ AI image of a man, sitting at a desk in a classroom, somewhere deep in the uncanny valley. He’s staring off into the nothingness while drawing an upside picture of SpongeBob SquarePants. The first description of an AI image, describing it as:

The image shows Oscar Isaac as Mr.

• The inclusion of a biology class with a teacher drawing Spongebob highlights the mundane and relatable aspects of life on Caladan, before Paul's journey into the harsh realities of Arrakis.
• Oscar Isaac plays Duke Leto Atreides in the film, making this scene a flashback or a dream sequence from Paul's perspective.
• The scene serves to emphasize the stark difference between Paul's former life and his new, challenging existence among

One of the beaches we visited had these little pebbles along the waterline, in all sorts of colors: treasures! I filled a bag I’d brought, then put them in a jar when we got home and found a plate for a base I’ve struggled to finish (or begin!) projects…things I’d normally enjoy. But, I can do this:
A white, square plate holding an abstract pattern made of small colored pebbles. The stones swirl around a central shiny shell. The colors very from dark reddish brown to gold to green-gray and pale blue. A beach covered with many small, colorful stones. The waves wash over them, so they sparkle in the sun.

We took a weekend trip to the coast, before the kids started the new school year. The Air B&B where we stayed was really nicely set up. Besides the puzzles and books we’d brought there were board games and a dozen or so books. My found they had an earlier edition of the same book she was reading:
Two copies, side by side, of the same book, titled: “Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon.”
The covers are almost identical. Both feature a scenic photo of a rainbow splashed across the Grand Canyon in the background. In the foreground there is a black and white photo of skeletal human remains. A drawing of two airplanes colliding has been added to the sky, to the upper right of the title. The book in the right, a newer edition, has a random drawing of a condor to the left of the title, perhaps for symmetry.

Our first time going to the Grand Canyon. It IS amazing… so grateful for our National Parks. The kiddos got up at 3:30 in the morning so we could take a bus to a sunrise viewing spot. Absolutely worth it; my 12 year old son was in awe.
A panoramic picture of the Grand Canyon shortly after sunrise. The hills and chasms are misty gray, with flecks of gold in the foreground, and the sky is creamy-coral at the horizon blending into pale blue above. Sunrise over the Grand Canyon: A silhouetted figure sits on a rock, watching as the sky changes from gray to orange and gold.

A while ago my mom saw an advertisement for seeds that would grow “flowers that look like kittens.” (scam) She was kind of disappointed it wasn’t real. A friend from college makes lovely felt flowers. I asked if I could buy a custom bouquet. Behold, the wonder of kitten-flowers!
A bouquet of felt flowers in beige, peach and burgundy, contrasted with a dark brown background. Several of the flowers look like kitten faces. Tufts of feathery pussy-willows fill out the bouquet. My son loves caring for this little lizard. Casper the Dragon has two terrariums. His day-time tank is in the family room, near the kids’ Lego table, where he can keep an eye on us. His night time terrarium is in my son’s room, where he can curl up in his little ‘bed.’

Here’s an egg I did a while ago, based on a tapestry that appears in the opening credits of The Last Unicorn. I’ve been meaning to try this idea again (this was my second attempt).

Pet sitting for my mom. She has 10 very well loved cats. She’s found homes for many fosters, but she keeps the ones that need a special place.🩷 The tipped-ear calico is named flower. She is in charge of asking for treats for everyone. Theo, the orange kitty, is blind, but his hearing is amazing.

My son had a violin recital at our house today. He played through his book with his teacher. His sister made sure his lizard, Casper, got to be in the ‘audience.’ (She put him back in his tank when he started to get wiggly, but I honestly think he enjoyed being included ☺️)

We took the kids on a mini-adventure; enjoying some northern California-stuff. I didn’t even know Oakland had a zoo, but we figured it would be nice to go somewhere we’d not been before. It was very worth the visit. 😊 Some zoo doodles:
Three quick pencil sketches of giraffes. A couple rough pencil sketches: one of a small deer-like animal called a klipspringer and one of a zebra. Some very rough pencil sketches of bison standing and lying down, and a doodle of a camel’s head, facing forward. My high school U.S. history teacher had us read ‘The Jungle,’ by Upton Sinclair. I have a squeamish stomach, and it’s not a FUN book, but that, and ‘How the Other Half Lives,’ by Jacob Riis made an impression that has stuck with me. Good history teacher
