Bezos could literally do that with his workers now if he wanted too.

I still think about Christina Blasey Ford, everything she went through and how her whole family’s life changed forever in the aftermath. While Kavanaugh got elevated to a higher status and his net worth has grown into the millions. I always hope she’s safe and knows her courage isn’t forgotten.

From that report, even though only 1%-2% of Cornell undergraduates live in Frat houses, 17% of the sexual assaults occurred in chapter houses. It’s like having a bake sale to donate to burn victims while lighting massive uncontained fires in your back yard every weekend. Look to your own house.

It’s not “comming off” as digging in and getting defensive. It IS digging im and getting defensive instead of even considering that maybe you and your brothers need to do more to protect women.

And the fact that the did cover it up should show your leadership that they obviously need more direct supervision, audits, and involvement with chapters that are on property they manage and their reputation. It’s basic organization management.

They do deep analysis and pull in third party outside help to figure put what went wrong and how to prevent it happening again. You seem to care more about a nice guy who didn’t get to join a social club but is otherwise perfectly fine.

Heartless Birch @heartlessbirch.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Why that’s so offensive to you that you’ve gotten more and more upset and defensive is literally the problem. Any organization that actually cares that has something like this happen doesn’t say “oh we donate to a charity and the individuals are gone now.”

I never said leave, I said work to address the gaps in adult oversight and seriously ask yourselves what you can do to better improve the culture of chapters. Clearly just reading reports they send isn’t enough, many other women are talking about this happening to them too.

I have ADHD too man, it’s not ADHD it’s centering a man you know and like literally in a comment section on a horrific rape.

Heartless Birch @heartlessbirch.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Your reaction and comments on this story wasn’t empathy for Jane Doe or what this must be like for her. It wasn’t horror that this is still happening. It was to dig in, defend the organization, and later bring up a false rape alligation and your empathy for that person who didn’t get to join.

Are they fundraising to reimburse the victim for her tuition? Working with Universities to improve enforcement and all student safety across all chapters? Listening to the several stories being shared by of women and discussing how to keep improving? I hope so.

Removing them as members from the rolls is a bare minimum basic start for any organization. Their statement made it sound like an above and beyond action. Are they fully cooperating with all investigations? Encouraging the other brothers to come forward as witnesses?

Heartless Birch @heartlessbirch.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The larger context of this conversation is an odd time to be bringing up this situation? The organization’s statement shifted blame on the local chapter and how they “manage their own affairs.” Nothing about how that perhaps needs to change or plans for more adult oversight of student housing.

It’s all awful, but can we imagine what might have happened if journalists weren’t there? How much further they may have tortured her it was hidden in some back room and never witnessed, and the public never informed?

Good. Frats with their well off Alumni and privileged social networks have been excused for these behaviors for too long. Hold the whole organization accountable. Make every member ashamed to admit they ever set foot in them.
030
Heartless Birch @heartlessbirch.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Don’t look for ways to excuse this. Anyone who’s been through undergrad knows frats have this reputation. My Father told me to never go to frat parties and he was in one. “Well not us, not our chapter.” Isn’t good enough anymore. What actions and policies are needed to keep women safe?
110
Heartless Birch @heartlessbirch.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
So ask fraternity leadership what’s being done to prevent this from happening again. What kinds of supervision at parties, policies about official group chats and how they’re moderated, what about the frat culture needs to change that so many in that chapter thought this was ok. Don’t get defensive.

Also “her record of defying Trump.” Is nonexistent. She is a guest of Maralago and only votes contrary to them when it’s not going to change the outcome. She voted for his incompetent cabinet members and the Supreme Court justice with credibile rape accusations who ended Roe vs Wade.

Plus, paper companies left polluted rivers and lands in their wake. Cleanup has been left to local communities and impacts are still measurable to this day. They were never held accountable for that damage and it’s a mistake we shouldn’t make again with other industries/data centers.

Many local police departments make a big to-do about canceling Flock while getting the exact same tech put up under Axon. The town I work in is even putting them up on the high school access roads.

We love ours. We also have a battery backup system in the basement that keeps the house heat pumps powered during outages. With a nice woodstove as backup, we’re pretty sheltered from the heat price increases this winter. I fully support programs that help people convert to these systems.

Ours have been working well even at low temperatures. But we also took out the fuel oil boiler and re-installed an EPA rated soapstone woodstove. It’s a wonderful backup for power outages or to take the edge off particularly chilly days. And wood is local/we can cut and season ourselves.

I’ve spent winters in a shittily insulated rental, running space heaters and trying to keep the fuel oil tank from running dry with diesel. If the fuel oil tank is empty, it’s extra charges to fill and more charges to prime/start. It punishes you when you’re down.

Heartless Birch @heartlessbirch.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
The well off folks buy their fuel oil in the summer well in advance and are fine. It’s the poorest and those who live paycheck to paycheck that will be hurt the most. Many are renting and have no say in their insulation and heat source.

Golden’s long been in denial that the Trump administration is fascist, and has thought tarrifs would help bring manufacturing back. He’s said that democrats were melodramatic. My veteran spouse thinks Golden’s the type of service member who never learned to think for themselves or question power.

Then once you both are looking at the flagged pins, note the trees cut on your property. Let them make an excuse etc, then ask them that the landscapers replace them with the same species of tree, as close to maturity as possible.

Heartless Birch @heartlessbirch.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Then once that’s done, knock on their door and ask them to help you confirm where the boundary line is. You can make up a reason why if you don’t want to confront them right then. Go out with them to the boundary and ask them to bring their survey too. (Note, you can often pull their survey)

Heartless Birch @heartlessbirch.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
I deal with this kind of stuff a lot. First I’d pull up my property survey and flag the pins in bright pink plastic flagging. Tye the flagging from the top of the pin to a nearby small tree or stick. Find all the boundary corners on your shared line. The neon flagging usually pings them in.

They spent the whole convention rambling about how they’re going to drill their way out of the problem. 🙄 It’s about their fossil fuel donors getting last grasps of cash, not what’s best for the American People. Our house is solar with heat pumps and a woodstove. Heat/cooling is $30 a month.
