Originally wanted to do something more classic, but I ended up writing something else entirely. Link to SnipFic: open.snipfic.com/snipfic/VmXB... #microfiction #SnipFic #writing #horror
Prompt: The villain was right all along.

My response: She stares at me with her suffocating love. Her digusting beauty radiating light that burns my skin like paper. I scream as I scramble to escape it.

You are one of us.

"No! No, I am not a creep! I am not one of you demons!"

My skin peels, revealing the nauseating beauty and deceiving light hidden deep within me. "No, this isn't me. I am normal. I am normal!" I repeat those words over and over again, paralyzed. There must be a cure for these unnatural feelings!

She extends a hand to me. And smiles.

What is normalcy?

I immediately knew what to write when I saw today's prompt. Link to the snipfic: open.snipfic.com/snipfic/kdMX... #writing #writingprompt #flashfiction #SnipFic
Prompt: You wake up in a fictional world you've created.

When I open my eyes, the first thing I see is a monochromatic cartoon hare standing in front of me with her back turned.

"Mel."

She turns around. Her eyes widen. "You... You're real?!" she exclaims. "No, that can’t be. This has to be a dream. It's a dream, right? Right?!" A twisted smile appears on her face; her uncharacteristic laughter sends a chill down my spine.

"No," I say, petrified. "This is real."

She freezes, her smile erased. Her glare pierces me as ink crawls around her fist to form a blade.

"You sadist. Why did you make me?"

Prompt: You find out that it wasn’t an accident.

I found my diary! I hold it like it's my most precious treasure. So many memories stored in it. Memories I had lost because of the accident.

I flip the pages, reading slowly to absorb all the details written. Some memories return, others feel like they don’t belong.

But as I keep reading, tears start flowing. I remember my best friend. She was with me when it happened, but she wasn’t as lucky. No one knows how I survived.

When I read the last sentence, I freeze. My hands shake, nearly dropping the diary.

"She'll get what she deserves."

Tried something more comedic today: open.snipfic.com/snipfic/hl71... #writing #flashfiction #SnipFic #writingprompt
Prompt: For 24 hours each year, every country goes to war.

"Oh Great Rat!" says our leader. "Who is the best country in the world?"

He's kneeling before an altar on which sits a chihuahua, its crown so big its whole tiny body fits in it. "Wah!" it says with exotropic eyes.

Our leader turns to the others. "See? My country is the best!"

"Nonsense!" another leader says. "He said mine was the best!"

Our leader jumps on him, and they exchange blows, soon joined by the others.

And that's how, every single year, on the same day, we all go to war.

What have we done to deserve such leaders?

Finally got to create a SnipFic account! Here's the first story I posted there: open.snipfic.com/snipfic/LkH6... #writingprompt #SnipFic #writing
Prompt: It's finally time to return to your homeland... with an army.

Screams of terror echo behind us. The baker and her delicious canelés; the amethyst-loving blacksmith; the retired local shopkeeper. As I walk the forest path, my minions marching behind me, I realize I never knew their names depite my youth spent here.

We halt before the gate, the great manor looming over us. My hands tremble as I draw my sword from its sheath. I can finally keep my vow. I can finally do what I should have done years ago.

I will save my sibling from that monster. No matter the cost.

The world is healing. Why not her? Excerpt from Book 1 of Amniland, still a WIP. #darkfantasy #animalfantasy #booksky #writing
As Mel walked away, she stopped in her tracks, her gaze turning to the other toons in the park. They were having fun, talking and yelling and laughing. Some hugged, others kissed. Some rode attractions or played games, others ate treats. For a brief moment, a smile made its way on the hare's face. There once was a time when such things did not exist. When smiles were scarce; when screams muffled laughs. They had gone through so much, and yet there they were, acting as if it had all been just a bad dream.

Why can't I do the same?

And here are the protagonists! (2/2)
A white, anthropomorphic cartoon hare with a slightly rubberhose-like design, standing on the tip of her feet. She has black bead eyes and spots that look like ink splatter, which cover half of her left ear, left arm and tail. The fingers of her right hand are also black. Her right ear is drooping, whereas her left one is bent, and both have two cuts at the tip. She wears gray pants and has a big, filled inkpot strapped to her back. Next to her is her name: "Mel O'Hare".An anthropomorphic cartoon cat with semi-long hair. She's white with pastel rainbow spots that look like splashes of paint. She wears a yellow wide-sleeved top, with a strap over the right shoulder which is exposed, and a red flounce skirt held by a ribbon with a bow in the back (similar to a kimono). Next to her is her name: "Chroma Katteyl".

Introducing the upcoming first book of the Amniland series! Currently a WIP. (1/2) (Totally not reposting this because I accidentally posted the old blurb instead of the new one. Nope! That did not happen! You're lying!) #darkfantasy #animalfantasy #booksky #wip #writingcommunity
On top is the title, "Amniland", and the subtitle, "Book 1: The Cracks". Under the subtitle is a box containing the following list with emojis: Dark animal fantasy; cartoon world(s); anthropomorphic animals; ink and paint; dual POV; a (socially) anxious cat; a reclusive hare; a mysterious tragedy; a broken diarchy"."The people of a small cartoon world have just left an era of tyranny behind them. But the nightmare may not truly be over.

Daughter of the late tyrant himself, and endowed with a psychic power she never asked for, Mel O’Hare is feared by her people. So she isolates herself in her manor, only to become the prime suspect of a tragedy that killed an entire village. The other co-ruler, Zorana Desmodus, offers to help her prove her innocence, on the condition she retrieves the family’s stolen heirloom.

Chroma Katteyl rarely leaves her small town of Eyeodin, staying close to her parents and her best friend. Because of her high empathy, she hides in her little bubble to preserve her mental health. But an unexpected connection with Mel triggers within her the urge to help the latter, forcing her to face an entity that has been hounding her for years.

Will the hare and the cat move forward despite the terrifying uncertainty? Or will they use "peace" as an excuse to turn back?"

From "Amniland #1: The Cracks". #WIPSnips #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompt
After the tea, Chroma took her mother's advice and browsed the internet on her laptop for positive content. She logged in to the Forgotten Reality forum and joined its chatroom. The forum was about myths, urban legends and lost media — things that fascinated her. Despite her shyness, she got along with the other members. Especially the admin, who went by the username "SoulQuill", or "Quilly" as everyone called them.

Quilly was, to put it simply, mysterious. They never talked about their personal life and would stay silent in the chatroom, unless the topic interested them. Any question about their life or their identity would be dismissed or ignored. Chroma valued her anonymity as well, for it was a crucial part of internet safety. But she would still talk about her life as long as it didn't give away her identity.

For a reason that eluded her, Quilly had a particular liking for her. She was the one they responded to the most, sometimes ignoring other members. This worried her, for she had dealt with a similar situation before, and it didn't end well. Regardless, she appreciated their company.

From Book 1 of Amniland titled "The Cracks". #WIPSnips #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
A crow took a small twig in its beak and flew back to the tree where its mate was waiting, having brought some materials herself for the nest. The strange-looking bowl was slowly taking shape as the two went back and forth to get more twigs, weeds, pieces of tree bark and such. Mel was standing still under the tree, observing the couple starting their new life together. She didn't dare get closer, for she feared she would cause them distress. She had strayed away from the camp to take a break, as her legs had become restless and her mind had been ruminating, preventing her from focusing on the task at hand.

After a moment, she resumed her stroll through the forest while making sure to stay away from the roads. She couldn't help but smile at the black birds all around her. This place felt so calming and peaceful, she wanted to stay here forever. But this wasn't where she belonged, was it? It wasn't safe. Nor did she deserve any of it. Yet a part of her disagreed.

When her mind came back, she found herself at the border of the forest. Before her stood a barbed-wire fence covering a big area in which a lonely cottage sat. A silhouette passed by the window inside. What a pretty place, she thought. She lay low behind a tree as she watched the house and hoped to see the silhouette again. Whoever it was, they had the chance to live by the corvine paradise. Oh, how much she wished she had that chance!

From the first Amniland book titled "The Cracks". #WIPSnips #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
"I think you should go see Dr. Marrork again," Kate said. "She has another solution."
Chroma's claws went out. She had to bring it up again. Not that she expected her not to. She would keep doing it for as long as her daughter refused to even consider it — something Chroma couldn't blame her for. "No," the latter said. "Everything's better this way."
Kate went silent. She had already used every argument she could find. Like the fact Dr. Katelyn Marrork needed the help of all patients to better understand the illness and find the best treatment. Or that Chroma would be way happier with the alternate solution. No. She was happier when not thinking about it. The attacks had become almost non-existent in the past years, thanks to the medication. Sure, she could get it from the psychiatrist only, since it wasn't on the market yet. Sure, the effect was temporary. But aside from that, there was no inconvenience.
Once she calmed down, Chroma washed the paint off of her clothes before taking a shower. She pondered on the recent events. First, the Sylvan'Heart tragedy, likely caused by Mel O'Hare, with whom she shared her first metadream the following night. Then her illness manifested sooner than it should have despite the medication. An illness the hare had as well. Were these events related? Could it be a sign from the Guardian? Maybe. Or maybe she was overthinking this.

Zorana took a sip of her tea. "I suppose it's original." Her eyes did not leave Mel, who was stroking her floppy ear. "We should let the police take care of it. We have other important matters to resolve."

Mel stared at her for a long moment, expecting her to talk about other recent news, before looking down in discomfort. She glanced again to see Zorana still wasn't looking away, so she focused on her plate. Only when she finished her toast did her eyes shift back to her partner, a sheepish smile on her face. "Oh! You mean your sword?"

"Among other things. Have you figured out a plan yet?"

Not really. Since the scent trail led to a dead end, finding the thief was impossible, for they had left no clue behind. There was no other lead, so only a miracle could help her at this point. She told Zorana as much. The latter put down her cutlery and rested her chin on the back of her hands, eyes closed. "You should search the cottage again," she said. "We may have missed something there."

"That's a good idea," Mel said as she wolfed down her scrambled egg. The cottage was the starting point, after all.

Her eyes locked with Zorana's. The Bat Lady maintained the same pose, no longer touching her plate. Mel frowned. "What?" she asked.

"To think our daily life could be like this," Zorana said with a faint smile.

Mel's body tensed. She didn't know how to respond to this. She reciprocated the sentiment yet didn't want to get Zorana's hopes up. Even a smile could give her the wrong idea.

"I missed seeing you in the morning," she went on. "Family meals were always… brighter. When you were around." She was reminiscing about their teenage years together, yet Mel was now more eager to resume her search for the sword. She tried to drink her cappuccino, but the intense burning sensation on her tongue made her instantly regret it, and she withdrew the mug from her lips with a grimace. She didn't have to look at Zorana to know the latter was laughing internally.

Sorry, but it's AI. If you google-search the "artist's" handle, the texts in the results reveal their posts had AI tags, including the Midjourney tag. Their original IG account was deleted, but their new account (where they reposted some of their "art") has the Midjourney tag as well.

And this is Chroma Katteyl, a cat who is too empathetic for her own good. After sharing a metadream with Mel, she wants to help her the best she can. But first, she must overcome her social anxiety. And it starts with confronting a toxic friend.
A white, anthropomorphic cartoon cat with anime-styled hair, a green left eye and a blue nose. The hair hides her right eye and has pastel rainbow spots that look like splashes of paint. The left side of her hair is yellow, orange, red and pink, whereas the right side is white, green and blue. The part covering the eye is half-purple. There's a yellow spot on her floppy left ear, whereas a pink one covers half of her right ear. The three spots covering her entire tail go from yellow to brown to green. There's also an orange one covering her left foot and a brown one covering the other. She wears a yellow wide-sleeved top, with a strap over the right shoulder which is exposed, and a red flounce skirt held by a ribbon with a bow in the back (similar to a kimono).

This is Mel O'Hare, one of the two co-rulers of Amniland. Because of her psychic power and mutation, she had been isolating herself lest she hurt someone. Until one day, when she dared leave her manor, only to be suspected of killing an entire village.

In an older draft of my first novel, Chroma and her mother (both cats) apparently turned into cars at some point. (Funny how I didn't catch that typo until the next draft).

Hello! I'm Anna, and I'm a dark (animal) fantasy writer. Although my native language is French, I mostly write in English. I'm also a digital & pixel artist. I love cartoons, animals (wolves and corvids are my favorites), nature, music, and vintage stuff (especially from the early 20th century).
My OC, Chroma, who is an anthropomorphic cat, is lying on her bed. She's reading a book under the light of her bedside lamp.Rambley the Raccoon (an indigo raccoon with a red bandana around the neck) looking at the viewer with a grin, arms and legs crossed. The background is a gradient of blue.A pixel artwork of the sun rising behind the sea. The sunlight is reflected on the water and the sky is a gradient of orange.A small pixel artwork of a human swimming to the surface, while a huge marine creature with sharp teeth is looking in their direction. Both the human and the creature are only shown as dark teal silhouettes. The background is a gradient of teal.
