yesterday a friend & i saw a wax cylinder being played by an original wax cylinder player. InfoAge, Wall NJ - this place has a bunch of small museums on computers, audio technologies, radio and communications, model trains etc. and nearby is the site of the first transatlantic radio broadcast.

love reading the bit about Ian Williams picking up an Akai Headrush to fill in for another guitarist and finding a whole new approach. same pedal as Tony from Chevreuil used stacked. without their playing i may not be doing ambient music, as i started coding loopers to do free-looped math rock.

we lost a lot of convenience when we rejected the microcassette recorder. no setup, not even an on-off button, just a single press of record and it's working. i took one to a warehouse full of player pianos(/banjos/organs) today and it was a joy.
