I think one can acknowledge that there are definite personal, political, social, and economic biases among others that might affect the patterns of diagnosis by a medical professional (since they are still humans) without buying into those being the only or even primary motivations.

It's not too late. I was undiagnosed for the longest time, got on meds after college, but I was almost a decade older than you before I finally got on some that actually worked right. So it is possible. I'm still learning how to not be depressed. But I'm glad I'm learning.

The visible gloss for cyberpunk is impersonal machines, technological solutions for all problems, and inhuman scale, but core to it is also corporate fascism, capitalist neo-feudalism, and pragmatic cynicism. I think your world definitely fits. But Thom seems to lack that cyberpunk protagonist vibe.
