That game last night got me fired up. I really have a hard time stomaching poor decision making and I think UPL getting the start despite Ellis having done more to earn it combined with the Powerplay looking the exact same as last year just broke my brain.

Is what it is. On to the next game. Maybe they'll figure out the PP, maybe UPL will become good magically.

I hate this conversation about personnel on the powerplay. It doesn't matter. No matter who you have on the ice if you just stand around making perimeter passes and taking low percentage shots the PP will remain ass.

Yeah the powerplay is an embarrassment. There's no excuse for that. Goaltending is self inflicted this game. They had a guy play a solid game and instead decided to play the man made of Swiss cheese.

To be honest, I could care less that UPL was good last year. He has 0 consistency. Is Ellis any better? Probably not but you have to give the dude starts to find out. Shitty contracts shouldn't guarantee starts.

Expected that they'd go back to UPL but still disappointed. Ellis deserves another game at least. UPL has done nothing this season to lock up the number spot.

Excited to see Ellis in net tonight. The Sabres have been playing good hockey so far this season (other than on special teams). If they can get some decent goaltending they'll be in business. Obviously he had a smaller sample last year but Ellis was generally pretty solid in net.

100% there's going to be a settling period given the changes to the roster. There's no radon they can't clean that stuff up. I'm admittedly not much of an expert but the goals UPL let in that were clearly on him were rough but I think it is stuff he could clean up

He does however appear to have a leaky 5 hole that teams will continue to exploit. He also seems to be having a hard time tracking the puck so far this season. Small sample and I'm no expert but these feel like mostly fixable issues.

Just went back and watched every goal at .25 speed and in UPLs defense this team loves letting opposing players set up in front of the net unchallenged

It's genuinely confusing how they can't seem to identify the issues that the average fan could point out. Standing around and passing the puck around the perimeter is exactly what other teams want you to do. How is there nobody in the organization capable of addressing these issues?

Louis Crevier is a better overall hockey player than Bowen Byram. That said, maybe Byram can pull a Burns and switch to forward for a bit? Might be able to add some value that way.
