Yes the Not Trump option is better. But we're not doing a good job of making that argument. We've had 10 years of looking down on Trump voters, but has that made life better for marginalized people? At some point, we have to be better strategically.

I just think we're putting the blame in the wrong places. There are vast media efforts to bombard people with misinformation so they can profit. There is a massive cultural problem of hyperpolarization which is leaving people choosing between two unpalatable options.

In fairness, for a lot of people working to make ends meet, they don't get much news outside of what they see on their phone, which is full of misleading headlines and algorithm-generated misinformation. It's a social problem that goes beyond people not comprehending how truly awful Trump is.

Due to bad judgment on my part, I looked him up and read his most recent Medium post. He describes some drama he's involved in and his last sentence is, "There is a chance that this person is insane." And "this person" refers to himself. So he's still a very stable genius, I see.

That's a fair point, but it was also a bad framing of the DSA by Jeffries. Half of the party is voting for progressive candidates and both the progressive and centrist halves are needed to win elections. I agree the progressive voters are not all voting for those positions, though some are.

I think a better answer would have been to offer something to both sides. "I don't support defunding the police, but I do expect accountability for all public officials. The lawlessness of the Trump era must end. I don't support open borders, but the recklessness of ICE needs to be reined in now."

The fundamental problem is POTUS and Congress. Yes, people below him could bravely fall on a sword to expose this particular instance of corruption, but POTUS has an unlimited supply of swords to use and Congress is unwilling to use its Constitutional authority to impeach and convict him.

I expect Flanagan will win Minnesota pretty easily because MN is still a lean blue state and this election will be favorable to Democrats overall. But I don't think primary turnout numbers mean much. The Democrat primary was much more competitive than the Republican primary, which affects turnout.

Hong came close to hitting her poll numbers. Democrats are pretty evenly divided between the progressive wing and the centrist wing. The centrists coalesced around Crowley as their candidate late due to the Evers endorsement. Ended up being a remarkably close race that is still too close to call.

Yeah I have no idea who will win, but it's not surprising that Hong is facing a challenge. Her poll numbers benefited from the fact that the mainstream lane was crowded and not full of name recognition.

She was polling at about 40% and she is getting about 40% of the vote. It appears that the other 60% coalesced around the frontrunner alternative, Crowley, possibly to the point of overtaking Hong.
