🧵Who is opposing the Trump administration? I analysed 76 actions of the administration since inauguration and then searched for *meaningful* opposition to each. I grouped the types of opposition and considered what we can learn from both them & actions where opposition has been lacking 1/24
chart showing groups of opposition to Trump. Broad groups for lawsuits are Blue states, labour organisations, civil rights organisations, NGOs. Then there is a separate group for international rsponse and another one for non lawsuit response. A table of all actions is available here with any oppoistion highlighted: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LZN7QnbSyFfUZJG8Sn1MWpK0VnfBtb0OSyZ1jxP3xBk/edit?usp=sharing (worksheet "Actions with links")

When cities clear homeless encampments, workers often take people’s belongings — including important documents, survival gear and irreplaceable mementos. Over and over, people across the U.S. told ProPublica they were devastated by such losses: propub.li/3WScD3g
A notecard with the prompt, "What is something that was important to you that was taken in a sweep? How did it impact you?" The handwritten statement below says, "My momma’s ashes were displayed on my table in my tent. I came back one day — and EVERYTHING was gone, including her ashes. They were clearly labled 'In loving memory — my mom, my best friend…' and her name. Her ashes were all that I had left of her. No one stored my stuff. I called tons of places and NO ONE knew anything. It is very difficult for me still, everyday. No warning, no remorse, nothing."

it’s interesting but also terrifying how selectively people are able to fall into the “common sense” rationalization for topics like trans women in sports even as they ridicule the common sense argument as applied to education/diversity, etc. how can you even convince someone in a post-truth world?
