This film wrecked me. The camera becomes a participating character in this woman’s struggle. My favorite scene was the reluctant dance. www.criterionchannel.com/rosetta

Rang in the new year with one of my favorite films of all time. Minimal music allows the audience to connect with performances and the story. Great sounding footsteps that inspired my choices when walking David Fincher’s “The Killer”. www.criterion.com/films/628-le...

The soundtrack is what kept us engaged through this film. The visuals, characters, and camera techniques were also worthy of attention. Stick with it through the first twenty minutes. The beach and drumming scenes are worth it. www.criterionchannel.com/fruit-of-par...

Thanks to the Roxie, San Francisco’s local nonprofit art house cinema, we got to see Luis Buñuel’s VIRIDIANA on the big screen. After viewing and discussing VIRIDIANA with a friend raised in Spain and another born in Mexico, I found this to be a pretty apt interpretation: medium.com/cinesuffrage...

This morning I swiveled my hips in a Zumba class with women who boasted about their age. I replied, "you are amazing. I hope I make it to 80". Yesterday I learned that my best bud from childhood passed. Cherish and love one another, friends. We don't know how long we have.

This film is not a masterpiece, but it's worth hearing the sound of the SOS call from the ships, seeing the practical special effects during the storm sequence, and spending time with Jean Gabin. www.criterion.com/films/27677-...
