Here in Costa Rica, my property is quite dark. I enjoy seeing the bats, insects, frogs, and spiders at night. My security cameras double as wildlife cams, often catching nighttime visitors. It's a privilege to be able to keep the lights off for them!

Decades ago, when I lived in northern California, I was driving at night on an isolated gravel road. Above and slightly ahead of my car, a Great Horned Owl was flying. That was when I learned that they sometimes use our headlights to hunt! All was well - just a surprise.

Of course, the obvious problems with originalism are 1) it requires an acceptance of the 3/5 clause and all that implies; 2) failure to recognize women as full citizens, and; 3) ignoring the obvious plans of the Founders to create a dynamic instrument that can be changed as needed.
