So this did end up working, but it didn't work the way you normally would make a badge in the machine. You have to secure the fabric to the front with a running stitch, skip step one with the press and then stack it in the second part manually. 1cm foam with a little circle of neoprene underneath.

My spouse took my purple tamagotchi and it came back with RM! 😮 He didn't start for a few hours and then - Max cleaned the door - Knocked on the door "A lot" - Played the game 20 times and made sure to end on a win
