I refuse to post an image of Mr. Blobby, but the pink spotted rubber twat (to probably slightly misquote Bob Mortimer) still freaks me out, and I will never understand my generation’s nostalgia for it.

Despite this song being used in several TV soundtracks, I first heard Squirrel Nut Zippers when I was looking for a recording of The Mysterious Axman’s Jazz after reading Ray Celestin’s novel about the Axman murders in New Orleans. hnoc.org/research-col...

At the turn of the 20th century, a music-loving serial killer proclaimed that only jazz lovers would be safe from his reign of terror.

Gonna be plenty of spooky, kooky, and downright scary blues, jazz, and garage rock on this one, alongside a bit of calypso, country, funk, soul, rhythm & blues, and more. And I couldn’t fit everything I wanted to play in, so next year’s playlist has already been started…

It’s a good answer. And very succinct; if someone asked me that, DJ Brain would take over and they’d end up regretting the question long before the inevitable set/infodump was over.
