The Southern Baptist Convention was founded in 1845 to PROTECT slaveholders. Its theologians called the enslavement of Black people GOD'S PLAN. They said African people — kidnapped, chained, stripped of everything — were blessed to live in bondage. That denomination has 47,000 churches today.

The "invasion" framing at the border isn't accidental. In 1823, the Supreme Court ruled in Johnson v. M'Intosh that Indigenous people didn't fully own their land because Christian Europeans had "discovered" it first. That case has never been overturned. Still considered “good” law today.
