Delays in Cheddar. The section on Lower New Rd from the turning to the Res to Helliers Lane is closed while the A371 at Draycott is shut. Traffic for Wedmore is via the War Memorial - long tailbacks up as far as Barrows Road. Use Tweentown - although delays there as well.

The Miners Arms in Shipham is undergoing a change. Planning applications suggest the main building will remain - but as a house - but the site will see new homes constructed around it. The end of an era. We used to stop there for a pint after football at Churchill. Sad.

The eclipse in 1999 - we watched it from the hill above Axbridge and it was very cloudy so no need of special glasses. A bit underwhelming - although the cars on the A38 below did put their headlights on.
