This is a ridiculous exchange you: "i believe things regardless of data" me: "that's wild" you: "you support rape culture"

People like you are happier when you are angry. You won't be satisfied by reducing poverty because you don't care about reducing poverty, you are addicted to being mad.

Stancil's whole point is that Democrats help poor people more than Republicans. R's might get swept out of office due to "affordability", but if the underlying anger doesn't go down when D's help poor people, R's will come right back into power.

Dude what are you talking about. Here you are again, making things up so you can get high on your own supply of feeling morally superior to others.

If your definition of huge problems in America is at least 1 person experiencing the problem then I guess we'll never solve anything and we should give up. It's an impossible standard you've set for yourself so you can feel the most addictive feeling in the modern world: righteous anger.

But they apply in aggregate, on average. That is what changes things from "this person has affordability issues" to "affordability is a huge problem in america". You're the one that brought up a wide issue.

So you just have your own, different numbers? That's great, you too are a spreadsheet guy.

For someone who preemptively made fun of spreadsheets, you sure are asking a lot of questions about numbers and calculations.

This is such a wild thing to say. "I think this thing, regardless of evidence to the contrary." It's a religious belief

It seems like the playcall was "see if we can get a free 5 yards by throwing to the TE. If not, chuck it 20 feet over his head" and JD decided to take a sack instead.

Look at early art. It was shit compared to today, compared to the renaissance. Were early humans less conscious because they were bad at art? Did humans suddenly become conscious when we got good at art? Of course not, we learned from our past and improved. Sounds a lot like AI training itself.

Why did the WSJ choose 2022-2026? If they had used 2019 it would look very different. Young people got very wealthy during COVID and while they have less than the peak of government subsidies, they have significantly more than before COVID.

Oh I agree, these people are not worth the money. But I just kinda shrug because there are infinite creators making endless sports content so I don't have to watch what they put out. There's only 1 Chicago Bears so I get mad when they pay that Bum Tremaine Edmunds

Because teams operate under a salary cap so an outlandish contract hurts the team. What Joe Buck gets paid has nothing to do with the success of their team.

I don't think the piece is taking the tone you're implying. It actually romanticizes nostalgia for a changing city. That you are a true New Yorker when you remember how the city was before, because the city is always changing.

What is your solution? Sit out of elections until the socialists rise up? What is your theory of change? I keep asking and you never answer. What steps are you taking to bring people into your coalition. Because right now you sound like an accelerationist and that would make you a bad person.

I voted for Melat Kiros to kick out Diana DeGette. That's a tangible step in the right direction. You posting all day that every Democrat is a bad person doesn't help anything move anywhere, and in fact makes it more likely for things to go the wrong direction.

"The only way out is to tear it all down." you say, as you don't tear a single thing down. Out here in the real world, I can hold two thoughts in my mind at one. "current democrats are far from my preferred politics" and "current democrats are by far more preferable to republicans"

Vs what you do, which is just bitch and moan about *every elected politician in the country* and say voting is a waste of time. Are you even trying to win a single race? A school board, a city council seat? No, you just call everyone else fools for participating in our democraxy.

You never said anything about users or platforms, you said ban all algorithmic feeds. If that's your dividing line can you be more specific? How big do you have to be to be a platform? Is bluesky a platform?

harry19023.bsky.social @harry19023.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
How is that different than the Instagram feed? Instagram has created a list of content and users have to both seek out Instagram and make a choice to either take the recommendations or not. They can fine tune the algorithm by telling Instagram what they like and don't like

If you create a starter pack you have stepped in and decided what people should see.

harry19023.bsky.social @harry19023.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
Is the creator of a bluesky starter pack liable for everything anyone posts in it? Is every blog with a comment section liable for all the comments? This is a bad road to go down. I do not want the government deciding what is bad speech and what is good speech.

harry19023.bsky.social @harry19023.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
I couldn't disagree with this more. I don't think the government should have any say in what speech is allowed and what isn't. I don't know how you look at the past 2 years and can't see that it's a bad idea. Where you mad when the FCC tried to shut down Kimmel and bullied Colbert off the air?

harry19023.bsky.social @harry19023.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
There's real tradeoffs here. I don't think it's a good idea to only give protection to reverse chronological order feeds, and make everything else liable for all content. It would destroy the internet. Bluesky would be liable for the trending section, microblogs would be liable for their comments.

Section 230 was written specifically to allow this type of stuff. Before section 230, sites had two choices: zero moderation and a hands off approach, which meant they weren't liable. Or any moderation at all, which by your logic and the law at the time meant they were liable for what they allowed.

She killed someone! I'm happy the cops stopped her. I'm happy they tried to talk her into dropping the knife, I'm happy they tried tasers, and I'm happy they used lethal force after non-lethal methods didn't work.

The thing that unlocked it for me was when I stopped copy/pasting and started letting the AI run the commands itself. You need to give it a feedback loop. If it can run the command itself on the actual data and see the output it will get to the right answer faster.

No one is telling you personally you have bad feelings. We ask tons of people about their feelings, and we also ask tons of people about their finances. In 2022 those stopped tracking each other. That's weird, that's what we're talking about.

The people that think the cities are dangerous think it because they see curated videos of city crime. You don't think other people's curated feed showing them how bad the economy is might warp their views? Maybe it's the exact same thing: the story your phone tells you is more real that real life.

The lived experience of suburban boomers is that cities are dangerous. The lived experience of rural whites is that immigrants are taking their jobs. Why are you ok to ignore those lived experiences but not these economic ones? I think all 3 are wrong

This is a survey about people's feelings. Will's point isn't that people don't feel this way, it's that that the stats don't match how people feel. This is the same as showing a survey of suburban boomer's thoughts on inner city crime as proof of a urban crime problem, when crime stats are down.
