Still riding that birthday high, so I thought I’d share one of my gifts, which features this back blurb for my upcoming novel. (Art by instagram.com/_francois_drawing)

Harriet Jinjur was an ordinary girl…until on her 11th birthday, she got whisked away from her home in Gretna, moved to a far-off island not seen on any map, and enrolled into the Academy of the Fantastical Mystics without any warning.

The reason? Well…Harriet Jinjur happens to be the Chosen One! And she doesn't love that one bit.

She never wanted a magic wand. She never wished to explore catacombs, learning unusual spells, or even be part of a fricking prophecy. Harriet would rather escape this new misery and get back to the only home she ever knew since her parents were killed by the very magic that she grew to despise.

But all that will change once she realizes that the Fantastical Mystics isn’t all to blame for ruining her life and cursing her vocabulary. There she’ll find not only friends, magic, and danger around every corner, but a great secret behind the Academy’s history and the new headmaster who possesses a power that goes against fate to adopt this reluctant student on his side.

And she has to deal with it all…whether Harriet likes it or not.
