Probably wise that Apple walked back plans to fire thousands of human support workers in favor of AI given that their AI support told me last Friday that the watch I was using hadn’t been released. www.macrumors.com/2026/09/29/apple-…
A chat with Apple’s AI support. I said “my watch is refusing to unlock with my phone. The setting is on and this persists even after a reboot. The support bot’s reply was “The Apple Watch Ultra 4 is a model that has not been released. What other questions can I help you with today?”

Ruby Central announced the next RubyConf in a YouTube video (www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vkbRlYCJY0) but it just doesn't hit the same as their paragraphs of obfuscated PR-speak, so as a courtesy to the community I have provided a translation.
Thank you for staying engaged as we move together. RubyCentral is committed to its stewardship of the community.

For this week's newsletter, we're sharing an announcement regarding community events, which is one of the areas we consider to be critical to the health of the Ruby community, both from a technical and interpersonal perspective.

There have been a number of questions shared from the community about such events, including whether we would be hosting them again, and in what capacity.

We have decided to move forward with a national-level event centered on Ruby. This event will be held in a major city in the US at a conference-style venue. In regards to the timing, the dates have been set and the event will be held during the summer.

Moving forward, we are committed to full transparency regarding events. Building trust with the community means having regular, transparent releases of information on a reliable cadence.

We acknowledge that this transparent style of communication has gaps in completeness, and we are committed to solving these problems out in the open with the Ruby community.

If there are any questions, we encourage sharing them using [this link].

Ruby Central's role is to protect the infrastructure that powers the Ruby ecosystem. We aim to rebuild trust with the community by acting transparently, strengthening governance, and inviting collaboration.

Thank you.

Was biking Saturday and stopped at Wu-Rons, which I'm pretty sure has the best ramen in town.
A seat at a cozy little ramen shop under a bridge. There's a bowl of tonkotsu ramen. You can see corn, scallions, a soft boiled egg, and plenty of pork belly on the surface. Next to it is a Diet Coke and a glass of ice water. It's appetizing.

I wasn’t familiar with the reference so I asked ChatGPT if it knew. gamepad.club/@Tipa/1147451463243510…
A screenshot of a ChatGPT conversation where I asked it to explain the referenced image of a plushie of captain Picard.

ChatGPT’s response:

This image is a visual pun — it plays on the classic joke format:

“How many [people] does it take to screw in a light bulb?”

In this case, it’s referring to Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation, played by Patrick Stewart.

The joke is:

“How many Picards does it take to screw in a light bulb?”
“None — he just tells it to make it so.”

This is a nod to his iconic catchphrase: “Make it so.”

So, placing a plush of Captain Picard next to a box of lightbulbs is a clever visual setup for that joke — no text needed.
