🌀Which Artworks Are in Your Profile?🌀 David Wojnarowicz's 'October 22, 1980 Postcard' and Hank Willis Thomas' 'Spiral' are the artworks featured in my profile. Learn more about each artwork in the alt text. 8/8 🧵
Intertwining love with criminalization, this postcard is one of many sent by David Wojnarowicz to his lover, Jean Pierre Delage, between 1979 and 1982. David Wojnarowicz's "Dear Jean Pierre" compiles these postcards. You can find this collection here: https://primaryinformation.org/product/dear-jean-pierre/.

Description: David Wojnarowicz's face is positioned in front of a shooting target. He is wearing a horizontally striped Breton shirt. The target consists of four circles. Similar to a nesting doll, each circle is slightly larger, moving further from the center. The numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 are scattered across the target. Wojnarowicz and the shooting target are black and white; the postcard is otherwise yellow. This description of Hank Willis Thomas' 'Spiral' is from The National Museum of African American History and Culture: "A quilted work composed of decommissioned prison uniforms and United States flags. The piece juxtaposes the blue and white striped fabric of the prison uniform cloth with the red and white stripes of fabric from the American flag. Various sized pieces of each are layered and stitched together to form a graphic, square-shaped spiral pattern with the prison uniform cloth on the proper right side and the flag fabric on the proper left. There is a narrow strip of red and white stripes along half the long edge of the blue uniform side and a corresponding narrow strip of blue and white stripes along half the long edge of the flag side. The prison uniform fabric shows many stains and signs of wear and white sections of the flag stripes have yellowed with age."

Harms Committed posts articles in a standardized format. This image shows a representative example, with overlayed text to explain each component.

The post begins with two quotes from the attached article. They read: "Genocide is not an Oakland value" and "FedEx and Lockheed Martin are exploiting Oakland's public infrastructure to facilitate a genocide without the consent of the people
of Oakland." Next to the quotes is an arrow with accompanying text reading "Quotes from the Article."

Next, there are eleven hashtags. The first 5 represent locations: "#California #USA #Israel #Gaza #Palestine." The following 6 represent topics: "#Protest #Labour #Genocide #Military #Weapons."

There is an attachment for an article titled "'Genocide is not an Oakland value:' inside Oakland's grassroots campaign to end military shipments to Israel." The image shows three protesters outside of Oakland International Airport. One is holding a sign reading, "OUT OF OAKLAND ARMS EMBARGO NOW."

The second post in the thread includes the author's and publisher's names, along with ways to support each. Joseph Mogul's Bluesky handle is listed. Mondoweiss' Bluesky handle is included, along with ways to subscribe to their newsletter or donate.
