The reality of dementia is that you lose the sufferer long before their inevitable end. It takes away the person you knew way earlier. Also it becomes harder for the relatives as they live with someone who declines but is increasingly oblivious in their own version of reality. Dementia really sucks

I recently had a mid morning check-in at Heathrow. Travelling from Ipswich by road was no guarantee of making it on time so train was the obvious solution. The UK has roads up the wazoo but public rail transport is the best solution there, and should be too for NZ.

Also relevant is the coalition's plan to keep FET at current levels which is already a decreasing income due to EVs & hybrids. RUCs being rolled out across petrol vehicles is their likely 'out' but they seem to be dragging the chain on that initiative too.

Your 2027 nugget of wisdom may well relate to RUCs. Once RUCs are levied across all petrol vehicles the economic viability and resale value of hybrids will decline as a result.
