It's not like we have a choice. russia started this war, so we have to win it.

They won't, so the question won't arise.

Should tell that to Putin. He's really stupid to keep pumping money into his failed invasion.

She might not know that. Many people who learned English as a second language don't. On the other hand, it might also be on purpose…

We need immigration. Birthrates are well below sustainment level.

She's never going to run Germany. I don't understand why everyone repeats her words.

One of the very worst.

I ask myself the same question all the time. In my opinion, giving everyone equal attention, no matter their opinion, is a fundamental failing of the press.

Actually, we want to stay. We'd rather the AfD idiots leave. russia seems to be nice this time of year…

"We" didn't get rid of Saddam. I'm not an American. I don't feel responsible for starting that war without a plan. I'll worry about any "bounce back", once russia is defeated.

I don't think we _need_ one. It's really more of a nice to have. As I said, let's focus on winning. Though, as long a it's not distracting from that, plan as much as you want. I don't really care what happens to russia (and the russians) and I don't think any such 'plan' will work as intended.

Die Reiche muß weg. Nicht wegen der genannten Punkte, sondern trotz und weil sie ihren Job schlecht macht.

Andreas @harmless-de.bsky.social · 5h
Huh? I never suggested trusting any of them. How did my comment that they are probably lying lead you to that conclusion?

Andreas @harmless-de.bsky.social · 5h
So I did. You haven't 'annoyed' me. I just got the impression that you are carrying water for the aggressors and I'm kind of allergic to that. You can alleviate all my fears by clearly agreeing that russia must lose this war. So, what is it?

Andreas @harmless-de.bsky.social · 5h
Well, yes. Just saying that predicting imminent doom is neither realistic nor helpful.

No amount of support for Russia can end the war, because Russia is the criminal aggressor. A modicum of support for Ukraine could, however, end the war, by making it impossible for Russia to continue. This should not be a hard choice.

@support.bsky.team I can't find a setting for the default language for new posts. Changing the language for a post is apparently no longer remembered. And the settings only offer UI language and preferred language for reading and translations.

Well, that's a surprise. Not. :-/

Well, I sure can't build rockets and satellites in my garage. Warning or not, it's not happening in a short time frame. I'm just being realistic. (In my opinion, this kind of doomerism is not helpful at all.)

Keep calm. You may have noticed that politicians don't necessarily do what they promised before elections… And that's not _always_ a bad thing.

Well, that proposal was so stupid, I wonder if they were really serious. I guess you can always try… * rolls eyes *

Andreas @harmless-de.bsky.social · 9h
That's not happening any time soon. First, we would need to develop our own reusable orbital rockets. Currently, there are not even _plans_ to do so. Of course, _some_ capabilities of Starlink can be provided by other systems. But specifically the real-time aspect is a problem.

With this kind of destruction it's quite possible that it could have been six destroyed aircraft. Maybe the Ukrainians had other means to confirm it, like drone footage.

I have an idea: let's win this war first and worry about the poor ruzzians later. (You are so '' far away from a block.)

"and hiding wreckage before satellites see it." How very russian of him. That should mostly solve the problem. :P

"Do we let an improvised population suffer and kindle resentment? Or do we go in with a Marshal Plan style rescue?" I don't care. Build a wall around it and forget about them. They squandered many chances to build a better society in the last few hundred years.

If Putin stops fighting, the war ends. If Zelensky stops fighting then his country will be occupied, leaders murdered, language banned, businesses stolen, children kidnapped. That's what happens in Russian-occupied Ukraine.

So, the American President has officially gone rogue? Not only is he implementing policies that the congress doesn't back but he is doing it surreptitiously.

"it could serve as a psychological weapon, allowing Trump to claim a symbolic victory and withdraw U.S. forces without restarting a full-scale war." Hint: That plan is going to fail.

Europe has stood by Ukraine since Russia started its war. And that is one of the reasons Russia has failed to achieve its goals. To end the war, we must pressure Russia, not Ukraine. Europe has the strength and influence to make a difference. My doorstep ahead of today’s European Council meeting↓

The best you could do is nationalize local subsidiaries. But those don't control anything.

I wonder how they plan on launching thousands of satellites without relying on SpaceX's reusable rockets. Note that we still don't even have a _partially_ reusable one here in Europe. (Of course, the answer is, they don't. They will absolutely launch on SpaceX rockets.)
