The #PurpleBlanket I’ve been making my husband is getting closer to done. I had meant to post in-progress photos, but shit happened. Here’s my current progress. On a queen-sized bed. I have 1/2 the border to finish and then eleventy billion ends to weave in.

Blanket draped across a Queen-sized bed. The majority of it is made of cable patterned panels in 5 different light and dark shades of purple. They’re combined with white yarn and they have 1/2 of a cabled white border. It’s very close to completed.

When you finally have the wherewithal to make sure your socks and mitts from the same yarn also have coordinated, mostly matching patterns. I am pretty proud of doing such a good job when I had my Thinkin’ Hat on. Main pattern: @norahgn.bsky.social Yarn: Knit Picks Felici in Country Roads

One sock and one mitt from the matching set. The difference in stitch pattern is a subtle addition of eyelets on the mitts. The yarn is self-striping with common shades of roads: brick red, grey asphalt, light tan, yellow, orangish yellow, and red clay orange. I’ve laid them out so the pattern on the top of the foot and the outside of the hand are easily comparable. I also lined the sock and mitt up so that the stripes are lined up to highlight the use of the same yarn.

I found an almost-hole in a sock. Interesting fact, I repaired it with a small length of the yarn it’s made of, just from a different color stripe😁🧶 #VisibleMending

The bottom of a sock I’m currently wearing. It’s striped with light gray, dark gray, purple, brown, salmon, and yellow. The almost-hole was between the dark gray and purple and repaired with salmon. Is it tidy? No. But it’s functional.

A Finished Project from 2025 was, of course, a pair of variegated purple socks. I bought the oopsie purple yarn off @lucymason217.bsky.social several years ago. And I drew the cable pattern myself, although it is probably not the first like it. And it’s more visible than the photo shows.

Described purple cable socks. The yarn is a variegated mix of bluish purple all the way to pinkish purple. The cable pattern is not as noticeable in this photo as it is in person. I’m wearing them and holding my feet out over a crappy marbled brown carpet. The socks look too big, because they are. I somehow made them too big for myself and so they are my husband’s socks. I need to wash all mine, so I borrowed them.

I feel moderately productive today. I finally wove in ends on several pairs of socks and mitts, washed those with my other pairs of socks, and hung them up. I *know* I can put them* in the dryer, but hanging them this way is pretty convenient. *I did put my least favorite in the dryer for tonight.

Several pairs of colorful socks and mitts hanging from hangers to dry. Unseen are the T-pins that are used to keep them hanging and not slide off. I’ll probably flip them tomorrow morning so both sides catch the breeze from my ceiling fan.

I ended up taking this apart and rearranging the panels and changing how they were joined. Turns out, the Solumedrol infusion back in July really helped my brain work better for a while. All the sudden, I figured out gauge, measuring, a tidier join, and fixed what I had not even noticed was wrong. 🧶

Haha a chopstick comes out with crumbs, no batter. Silly me using toothpicks that didn’t go all the way to the bottom on first try.

Same pound cake, but much darker brown. There are visible holes from the chopstick “skewer.”

Not pictured: the still not baked all the way center that didn’t make itself known until I moved the loaf from the pan to a wire rack. Oopsie boopsie! I got it back in the pan and into the oven in one piece and so what if the top gets a little more… crispy.

My gal Harley has come a long, long way in the last year. She is still hostile to any intruder (anyone but me and Mr. Hellhound), but has today achieved the ability to hear the Amazon person open the gate and let it close loudly, twice!, without doing more than lifting her head and looking around.

10-stitch Blanket was too easy, so I’m doing a 16-stitch Blanket with a cable. It took about 10 tries to figure out shaping, turning cables 90 degrees, and joining edges. Sorry, I feel like I could do better alt text, but can’t word well today. #FibonacciSpiral #Math #Knit #ShowMeYourKnits

The beginnings of a square-ish knit blanket that spirals out from the center like a Fibonacci spiral. The visible yarn started in light orange, then changes to watermelon red/pink, and fuchsia is just starting on the working end. The pattern has a center cable that loops around the corners.

A closeup of my current work in progress. The color of the yarn is just barely on the red side of a deep, dark purple. The cable pattern used creates interlocking diamonds over 4/2 ribbing.

Snagged 2 grippy socks from the sock basket. Now waiting for my husband to say something 😳 #GrippySocks

My feet, wearing said grippy socks. Left is gray with teal toe and heel, right is fuchsia with purple toe and heel. They are athletic ankle socks that have a grippy sole, not hospital grippy socks. I developed a fondness for them after my 2024 hospital stay.

I finished it! 10+ year old socks, darned. It only took 2ish years to get round to it. Added leather soles over the repairs, since granny wore out those spots most. Are they perfect? Nope. I learned blanket stitch, though! #knit #crafty #Handmade #sewing #mending

A pair of variegated purple-pink-fuchsia socks. They are knit in an eyelet diamond pattern. The left sock shows the top/front and the right shows the new leather soles. The soles are attached with brown wool yarn using a blanket stitch. Not pictured, the woven darning under the heel patches. I’m a bit nervous about how well/long these patches will work.

Opened my @peculiarityshop.bsky.social package this morning and it was fantastic! I had not only forgotten I’d ordered it (until last week), I had forgotten what notes I’d given about what I’d like beyond “No pink.” Turns out “oopses are welcome” returns interesting, beautiful, and fun “stuff.”😂
