This breaks my heart. Its going to impact more than just trans kids. I had never heard of transitioning when I convinced my hair stylist to chop my hair off and my social circle to call me "Lee" (a nickname from my dead name). I just knew it made me feel better inside.

Whenever I hear shit about the ADL, I am reminded of this info I learned from How To Survive a Plague
Text from kindle: To make their goals plaon, the group called itself the Gay and Lesbian Anti-Defamation League and crafted a mjssion statement similar to the one that B'nai B'rith had used to guide their Anti-Defamation League since 1913. They would secure justice and fair treatment toward lesbians and gays, and respons wherever untruths about gay lives were being trafficked.

But almost as soon as they put out a call for a town hall meeting to announce their formation came cease-and-desist warnings from, of all places, the very Jewish group they so admired. the Anti-Defamation League felt defamed by association with the gays. They threatened legal action, forcing the new group to change its name to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, or GLAAD.

I may not know a lot, but I know what the favorite graffiti I've seen in the twin cities is.

1. Lirael. I recently re-read this because I remember her being one of the few female characters I related to as a teen. I remember feeling so seen to find a book where being quiet =\= being a coward. I also struggled to find my place in the world, and this book gave me a lot of comfort.
Cover of the book Lirael by Garth Nix. A brunette young woman in a red shirt stands next to a dog. On The table is a book, set of pipes, and a box. The young woman is reaching for the book.

I had to make myself a scale so I don't feel guilty giving something 1-2 stars.
Handwritten text on a page of grid paper:

BOOK REVIEW SCALE
1 - DNF or I wish I DNF
2 - It was fine. Large issues or did not connect
3 - very readable, some minor issues
4 - Impactful, reading this book meant something
5 - It was made for me

Severance confession -- every time I see the end of the S2 intro, I think of Matt Walsh's baby plush.
A frame from the end of Severence S2's intro. 1/3 of the image is a black blank space. Mark, a white man in orange/red pajamas, sits on the end of a white bed in a dark room. A baby with a grown man's hair, face, and beard crawls past him. It is snowing gently. A plushie of Matt Walsh, with his hair, beard, and glasses, but his body is that of a baby in a diaper.

I don't have a before picture, but I have a during and after picture of me organizing my craft center in my library.
A photo of a chaotic room. A hammock sits above a jumbled mess that covers the majority of the visible floor. It is a mix of boxes baskets, and various craft supplies. There are some empty shelves in the background. The same room, but the floor is clear except for a hammock and a bowl with cat food in it. The empty shelves have items organized in baskets.

I think about this every day.
Screenshots of The Simpsons side by side. They are of a political event. Each one has 1-2 speakers at a podium, American flag designed backgrounds, and a crowd of people in front of the podium standing with signs.

The first screenshot is the democratic convention with hanging banners that say "we hate life and ourselves" and "we can't govern!" The second is implied to be the Republican convention, with bannera that sat "we want what's worst for everyone" and "we're just plain evil"

Packing up the house in Des Moines, I found a cardboard tube that was never unpacked in the 5 years I lived here. I pulled it out, and it's this:
Poster of Dwight Schrute from The Office. It is yellow and blue, with a high contrast image, and 2/3 of it is covered in the following text:

Dwight K. Schrute. Assistant --to the-- Regional Manager + Sales Representative.

How would I describe myself? Three words: hardworking, alpha male, jackhammer, merciless, insatiable.

Nothing stresses me out except having to seek the approval of my inferiors.

Whenever I am about to do something, I think 'would an idiot do that? ' and if they would, I do not do that thing.

I have been salesman of the month for 13 of the last 12 months. You heard me right. I did so well last February that corporate gave me two plaques in lieu of a pay raise.

I am ready to face any challenges that might be foolish enough to face me.
