Counterpoint: interviews can make one dry and thirsty, and not every interviewer offers water

What I’m saying is — because we’re so heavily ‘in business’ with the US, American voters literally decide our future. Often American elections come down to tiny groups of people in swing states. So all 40mil Canadians’ fates are literally in the hands of like 100,000 MAGAs. We have been very blind.

I would edit this to — not determined by the people of the US. Trump is nothing without those who empower him. As Canadians, we can’t let some uneducated, hillbilly magas in Pennsylvania be the deciders of our kid’s futures.

My non-American insight: They’re not accepting the results. What happens next, I don’t know…maybe a lot, maybe nothing. But know this for sure — there is 0% chance of a peaceful acceptance.

That’s the American people’s problem to deal with — Ireland cares about Ireland’s issues.

Whatever, can y’all please tell Trumpy to fuck off and leave Canadians alone? His attention is beyond creepy. I much preferred life when Americans barely knew we existed (and now apparently 40% of republicans hate us? People in your country are beyond hope and I don’t know how you get out of this)

Lots of people do though. Guarantee plenty of Americans are sitting around bitching while supporting the worst enablers in all sorts of ways.

I don’t think they need to do anything drastic like that. They just need to organize and do economic actions. They always talk about how most Americans are against what’s happening, so prove it; bring Americans together and punish the fascist-enabling corps

happypoodle.bsky.social @happypoodle.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
Unite with other Americans and starve the beast — withdraw your finances and support from the corporate enablers. No Amazon, Meta, etc. Mass dump the stocks too.

I don’t know what you have to do. I’m not saying violence but probably economic boycotts (that are serious, planned and punishing). You don’t need the democrats to do that — let them focus on what they can do in DC with the little power you gave them, and the people can organize the movement
000
happypoodle.bsky.social @happypoodle.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
Sorry man, but it’s gonna be up to the people. No democrat is going to risk criminal prosecution to save you from yourselves.

Just stupidity and bluster, or an admission that they are eyeing possible military intervention?

Main character was a reference to calling us Canadians ‘vassals’ to the US, which was the claim of the person who made the original comment. Vassal means that we’re servants of/subservient to the US.

Americans created the mess when they ‘just couldn’t’ vote for Hilary, even knowing the court was up for grabs.

Sports itself is fine. It’s fun to watch people who can do something really well. It’s all the sports betting and Infantinos etc. who ruin sports.

‘Scolding’ would imply that there’s something legitimate to scold about — his comments are clueless and gross. On the flip side, I guess I am ‘scolding’ Americans, because there is actually something to scold about.
000
happypoodle.bsky.social @happypoodle.bsky.social · 29/08/2026
Oh are your frustrated? Remember this whole thread began with someone blaming Canadians for the actions of Americans, and insulting us to boot. We’re not your ‘vassals.’ American main character syndrome is so tiresome.

Honestly Albanians have been better at protesting the Trumps than Americans have been. They have had sustained, months-long protests. You’ve had like two protests? And personally I’m not all that impressed at the turnout. And now a whole spring/summer (the best time) has gone by with nothing…why?
110
happypoodle.bsky.social @happypoodle.bsky.social · 29/08/2026
It’s not attention that matters — it’s causing real harm to American companies bottom lines. That’s the only language the elites in your country speak.

Maybe resistance needs to be more creative than just ‘throw your body in front of an ice officer.’ You need to make sure the corps/financial systems enabling this stuff are feeling a huge hit.

Why don’t you all just together and punish the billionaires/tech corps etc that run this admin with massive boycotts? I see no reason that hasn’t happened.

Blame goes to the US voters. The vote in 2024 was very much a referendum on whether criminal presidents should be held accountable and voters across the spectrum said no.

Americans won’t win in November. Either the bad guys win and become more emboldened, or they lose and go scorched earth. The only conversation you all need to be having is how you’re going to handle the aftermath of what’s coming.

No argument there. I just don’t recall home specifically talking about ‘woke’ but I could be wrong. He also didn’t get involved with making anti-trans laws like some provinces did. But yeah, hate the guy more than anything.
110
happypoodle.bsky.social @happypoodle.bsky.social · 24/08/2026
Umm it’s kinda weird how much these guys are obsessed with ‘having’ us. I feel like a pre-teen at a mar-a-lago party.
020
happypoodle.bsky.social @happypoodle.bsky.social · 24/08/2026
I’d say he’s more corrupt like Trump. He hasn’t engaged too much on the anti-woke stuff. I can’t stand him, don’t get me wrong. He is anti cyclist but that’s just because he perceives them as ‘slowing him down’ and he makes policy based on his personal, petty grievances.

Your culture and system brought you here, so I don’t see how you can argue it’s not trash.

happypoodle.bsky.social @happypoodle.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
I’ve spoken with several Americans, and believe me, many are in denial. You’re correct that the problem is much bigger than that — your whole culture and whole system is trash. Not sure how you overcome that. Sadly I don’t think you will.

American idiocy is a force that can’t be underestimated. That’s what happened.

The American people failed miserably. The cases were still pending when the American people decided they didn’t want consequences. Denying this is unhelpful. His approval is irrelevant — his/Harris’s opponent was Trump and Americans (70%!) embraced that evil and immorality.
100
happypoodle.bsky.social @happypoodle.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
Umm he tried, until the American people were like, ‘Please sir, don’t go to jail. We will give you the keys to the kingdom and all of the power, as long as you promise to rob us blind and attack our neighbours.’ Without the intervention of the people, the guy is convicted today.

happypoodle.bsky.social @happypoodle.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
Many Americans are in denial that he was chosen by their country and is supported by quite a large percentage of them (and I don’t care what polls say — a lot of people who check off ‘disapprove’ on a poll will still support him with their vote)
