I do think there is a difference between saying "The state isn't about murdering you" and "the state will publicly execute you on TV and sell ads between it," yeah. Which is why major news networks treating the former like the later and capitalizing on police brutality is so egregious.

Apparently the first season was good (or at least passable) because Kurtzman was busy with other projects so the head writers were left alone. Then he came back for parts of S2 and then fully for 3-5. Which, to me, shows EXACTLY where the boat started taking on water.

I've tried to watch Picard many times and never made it past episode four, so I'm not sure what you mean, lol. But it doesn't surprise me. I can't make it to season two because of what you mentioned where it's two and a half episodes of filler before something happens.

It just all misses what Trek is. It's never been Gay Space Communism like people joke, but it is progressive. It does challenge viewpoints and brings you real questions. Today's Trek sadly just asks you if you like the 12 new gimmicks they have for the new show Space Friends: Nothing Bad Happens.
