Some people at the clinics here still prioritise binary, normative gender expression, or consider "if you transition you'll probably look trans" as a negative outcome, and she's a big part of that policing. She writes op-eds in the Finnish press that take ages to unfuck.

I transitioned in Finland. I don't doubt that Kaltiala has some expertise in her field of psych, but she's been like a ghoulish Final Boss for a lot of people here, and is clearly enjoying the international attention she gets for being GC and a professional with the trans clinics.

Great! Also, if your levels are, say 600 but you feel like crap, and someone else is at 400 and feels fine, that's totally possible. It's quite individual how testosterone levels actually affect a person's mood and all the other things hormones do.

Too low dose and I end up feeling blue, low self-esteem and energy, cranky. A higher dose increases risk of cholesterol issues, heart issues. So I try to find the lowest happy dose. Dunno if that helps you at all. But starting with a low dose is pretty common I think?

I take 1000mg in nebido every 12 weeks or so. I used to do 250 every 2 weeks. Before that, a sachet of gel a day at either 30 or 50mg; before that, half a gel packet. I obviously need to make up a lot more than most cis guys.

I would wager that the goal would be to see where your current levels are now and then see if a correction helps. The range is pretty wide, around 300-900 ng/dL. For reference, cis women produce about 15-70. People like me (trans guys) are kept within the typical male range.

Oh, and pre-surgery and early days: choose structured natural fabrics. Heavy cotton t shirt instead of stretch fabric. Linens. They don't cling to your body and are much better at helping you create a shape. I could even skip a binder, and I'm not skinny, because dark linen shirts did the job.

I'm a trans guy and Derek, I can tell you my wardrobe has improved a huge amount simply by reading your threads. The "dress for your body type" stuff never worked well for me; your threads about putting together an intentional look and for getting a good fit - that's 99% of the game.

One of the most fascinating things I remember from the museum of Paris was going through the whole exhibit on the revolutionary period and seeing basically nothing about actual working class people. All the revolutionaries seemed to be pretty well heeled and well off.
