A few of you may have heard something about the interlocking set of disasters we in New Orleans experienced starting just over 20 years ago. The most famous was a hurricane, Katrina, which got lots of news coverage for a short amount of time. Much worse was what we call the Federal Flood 1/?

Open doorway to a building with a sign reading "DO NOT ENTER - THIS PROPERTY IS UNINHABITABLE". Flood silt and mud is on the ground. The side of the building has a series of dirty brown horizontal lines denoting various levels of long standing floodwaters, from over 2 meters high on down.

Last year I was asked to write something for the 20th anniversary of Katrina. I struggled and procrastinated and almost didn't do it. What I produced, frankly, wasn't very good. All I could do was restate arguments I'd been making to brick walls for years. Here's some of that.

I'm still recovering from the last cancer treatment. I'm generally exhausted & having issues focusing. It will probably be a minute before I'm truly back. So, it will take me awhile to follow folks back & most of my posts will be political memes, cancer updates along w/asks for cash etc.

I had my breast cancer surgery on 11/12 & I'm currently recovering well. However, I'm still short $260 from my original goal (and will probably need more assistance) which is making things difficult. I know it's hard for everyone right now. Even a small amount or a RT helps. Thank you ❤️

I had my breast cancer surgery on Wednesday. My team was awesome & things went better than expected. I'm doing great. The surgical bra is the worst part so far. I'm still dealing with a lot of brain fog so, I haven't been posting. Many thoughts, not enough words. Thank you to everyone❤️

I had to postpone my surgery for breast cancer due to not having enough funds to get me through my recovery. It's scheduled for this week & I am still short $260. I was also going to receive SNAP this month, so it's now even more challenging. If you can help thank you❤️

#Chicago Hey, this is a new grocery store on the West Side of Chicago. They started as a pop up at Farmer's Markets, etc Right after they opened SNAP was cut off. Obviously that reduced customers/sales. I really want them to succeed. 40 ACRES 5713 W.Chicago Ave 8 am- 8 pm

My breast cancer surgery is scheduled for this week & I have a ton of things I need to do before hand. I feel woefully unprepared & things being so chaotic does not help. I have no idea how active I will be on SM over the next 2 wks or so. I will probably be slow to reply or follow back.
