Haven't been into anime lately but my friend tells me the Sayolara fandom devolved into this as soon as people saw the ending.

My brother brought back some special fish sauce from Tidore so this is technically fusion cuisine between three cultures, Japan, Korea, and Tidore.

RE: Obsession, Look Who's Back, and Mussolini Son of the Century

A reoccurring issue with art that tries to hold up a mirror to society by making people capable of relating to a really shitty protagonist is that you'll have people who say they're progressive act performatively outraged over it.

How dare you make me feel capable of relating to Hitler or Bear, this is a flaw of the movie being fascist or misogynist, I in fact don't need to think about why I felt that way at all, or whether these monsters are people too, and not a separate ontological other, perhaps we can go so far as to say subhuma-

Doodling a temporary book cover/moodboard thing for a pulp hero detective serial I'm working on set in an alternate 1933s Jakarta (called Jayakarta), look forward to it when the first chapters come out. #collage #mixedmedia #art #book #writing

Ok I'm not saying that this show is good or goated with the sauce until we get like, at least genuinely a bit more of the season but I think Lanterns has a really strong first episode (or a 1+2 episode combo if you want to think of it in Tokusatsu terms)

I watched the restored version of the Third Man and I can say that its alright. I'd give it a 7/10 but its not a must watch unless you like well acted early cold war melodramas shot on location in a still divided and occupied Vienna with sometimes horrendous sound mixing and a mid soundtrack though

Watched the Twentieth Century (2019) movie by Matthew Rankin tonight, and its best described as like, 'A fever dream that dared to ask, what if Fate/God said you were destined for greatness but this was the face of God'

Watching the Maltese Falcon, and it's genuinely really funny that dingus is used to refer to an object in this movie and the actual insult he resorts to for a man he doesn't like is 'bottom'.

This is what it feels like reading other people's critique of movies online these days. They're not even reacting or critiquing the movie anymore, they don't even need to watch it either, they're reacting to other people's reactions.

The wonderful art of the Hittite Priest drawing on a wax tablet featured here and in the game was done by @junsjoys.bsky.social in their impression of a hatched OSResque style, I kind of really fuck with it.

Kind of mindboggling to me that there are people who think the people of the bronze age were presapient when this is what I can remember about proposed international trade routes during the bronze age off the top of my head.

Honestly maybe I should be less hard on myself, Tomino is objectively speaking one of the most successful and influential directors in the field of mecha anime in general and apparently he considers himself a B grade robot anime creator because he can't win an Oscar

I found out that Marvel made a mecha comic with Combattler and Raideen in it back in the 70s, and after tracking it down the first thing I noticed is that the black guy's last name is 'Savage', and the great ancestors of the good guy aliens are all white people with blonde hair.

You put Haruka and Maya (Ayato's mom) in the same scene and that's when I realized that Ayato's love interest looks a lot like his mother despite Maya only being Haruka's adoptive aunt (Maya was adopted into the family).
